u guys i think hurricane is handling thereself with class and grace. heythey did get beat but they are taking it like real winners. As for last year at states I did think Grand champion should have gone to hurricane they had wonderful vocals, and powerful choreo that kept my attenton the whole show. I love red hot they are all so nice and by the way Kim edwards is the nicest woman ever. I have spoke to her on the phone several times and she has been nothing but kind. I also get the impression that kim wants her group to win because they are good and it shows. So i seriouly doubt states are ridged, but think what you want . Kim edwards is wonderful, and hurricane has a solid show so he will see what happens at states this year.

PS> you rock red hott

i have a funny story regarding last years states...i wasnt able to make it to perform bc i play baseball for hoover and we had a game that day...but last year, in our country themed show, i was the one that always came onstage for the bow and played mandolin while my friend dave played banjo...well i wasnt there and dave didnt play banjo, and we got judged on it lol.....hey i wasnt even at our competition portion of states and yet still did better than dave who was there lol i thought that was funny....and in st clairsville last year (i would like to say i hate that compeition) my mandolin got called a UKELELE! u got heard me UKELELE! lol that judge was smokin some HEAVY crack lol....gotta love it!

States will be fair, and also just because Red Hot is the host doesnt mean we will win. We have had a strong season and it will be a good competition. As of right now states can go to anyone. Kim Edwards is the most professional and will make sure STATES are judged fairly and accordingly.
BEAVA.

Hey there, everyone. I wasn't able to make it to Capital's Competition this past weekend, but WOW! What an uproar! An awesome congrats to St. Albans! It is so awesome to see that you guys are doing so well so far this season! I am a Hurricane Alum., and I just wanted to tell all the Red Hot people Congrats on Best Choreography and 3rd Place! Thats Awesome!

Just a little note. I think I agree with Scotty, that even though a bunch of smack goes around about the host choir of States always wins, which in many cases they do, I really do believe that the winner of each States Festival in the past has deserved to win. I think it just makes it really hard for schools to defend their title, when they host it. It's a shame that we all can't realize who the best show choir was, even if they are the one who is hosting. But thats just not the way things are...

We all have the right to our own opinions, and I think thats what I loved about show choir the most! You never know whats going to happen next..there is no guarantee in victories, thats what makes it fun and exciting!

One thing that seems to really bother me, is that Hurricane nor St. Albans' show choir members are on here, dissing each other's groups, or saying any negative things. If they don't have anything to say about it, then obviously it shouldn't be such a big deal. I truly have much respect for both of these show choirs, and I wish them the best of luck in the future!

-Greg

why thank u.....i wish our choreography was as good as our vocals...but im not a dancer...i play violin to that song and "seize the day" but i wish we had better choreography, i think that is what is wrong with our show...and plus, at hoover, its looked down upon to be a guy in show choir....i catch slack for bein in the backup band lol that is retarded! lol

hurricanes show this year is better than capitals....but not last years...last year hurricane was great....this year they are awesome....last year capital was awesome....this year they are good!!!.....sorry but u are making hurricane seem superior...b/c they are overall better than any show choir in WV...u all have the trophies to prove it...but still yet, many of us "Kanawha County Show Choir Lovers" know that capital was better last year...but not this year! although the theme for hurricanes show last year i loved! but capital "did have fun and games" in their jungle theme.......and im sure there were more people who should have received a superior rating at states last year

i know putnam county schools are always great, but last year i really do believe capital deserved better than 3rd...and 1st is what it shoulda been...hurricane's show was good last year, but nowhere near what it is this year....capital was best last year and that is a well known fact throughout this area....but its kinda hard to swollow that there wasnt some biased last year since the winners were hurricane and it was at hurricane! we need to get the states at a neutral position...maybe THE CLAY CENTER! that would be best i believe! or perhaps some school that we KNOW wont win it

States can't be at the Clay Center because there is no dressing area for show choirs like there are at high schools, etc, plus parking could be a significant problem. Also, I don't know how much of a "well-known fact" it is that capital's show was the best last year. You yourself said that this past weekend...Hurricane was good, but St. Albans was better...is it possible that last year, Capital was good, but Hurricane was better? I'm not trying to promote superiority of Hurricane in show choir, but I just find it weird that you would come out and say that it's a "well-known fact" that Capital had the best show in the area last year...

No doubt, Capital was phenomenal last year and a very impressive group. And I do believe that if Capital could have performed the entire show with the energy of the opener, they could have taken it all. I wouldn't be at all discouraged by a 3rd place showing your first year at the State Competition. Putnam County was and continues to be one of the elite show choir counties in the nation and, though I was impressed by Capital last year, I didn't believe they had the substance to win a State Championship. I know earlier that I mentioned the correlation between hosting and winning, but there was not one year when the group who won didn't deserve to win. Poca's show was absolutely phenomenal in 2002, Martinsburg was so amazing in 2001, and Hurricane was the only show choir to score a superior last year at States. I would never hate on Gail's show choirs. Gail is probably one of the nicest women I've ever known and the way she has taken control of show choirs: Taking Poca to a state championship even after the departure of David Legg, leading St. Albans to a grand championship in their first competition in quite a while...no doubt she deserves credit where credit is due. Each school gets it chance to hold States, because it's typically in a two-year rotation...

hurricane is good....st albans is good....but apparently st albans was better this past weekend...states will be interesting...especially since states is at HURRICANE!! hmmm my prediction for that is a screw job and hurricane winning States again....and it will probably be a top 2 putnam county school thing....kinda like last year..where capital shoulda won states with their jungle show, and yet they failed to do so b./c hurricane did...now i know hurricane was outstanding and is outstanding...but last year, cap was better, this year st albans dancing was cleaner, and vocals were top notch...just stop hatin on gale kennedy's classix...st albans has been good the past 2 years! no need for hatin!
