I wonder where I heard that? I don't know...anyway, thanks so much to everyone for the replies. We're going to work really hard for the chance to sing in front of the full house!!! I look forward to seeing everyone there!

Ryan Shapiro...I emailed you this morning...did you get it?

If the competition is striving for the midwest style then, it will be top six overall regardless of class.

The TOP 6 scores, regardless of class will move on to the finals. The "B" choirs will be mixed in with the "A" groups. It is very possible that you could go next to last in the day, performing for a packed house! Are you regisered in the competition?

I know we "could", but it seems like I heard that sometimes in these types of comps, the top B group definitely gets a spot. I'm not at all familiar with this set up, so I'm just curious...Any of the Ryans or Antwon know for sure? I feel like I heard that somewhere...I just want my kids to get to perform in front of a house full of people...so if we were able to make finals (I have no idea who the other B choirs are) that, to me, is the big prize. B choirs go in the morning, so we generally perform for small audiences, and an opportunity to perform in front of a big one would be amazing.

Was there any confirmation as to whether to top B group moves through to finals?

That would be a fantastic goal to work for.

Ryan, I would love for you to come down again! And, I think I'm almost ready to hear what your mom had to say about our show. I'm a big softie, so you know I gotta get myself together first. But, it's all about the kids....right???

To all groups attending...

I personally promise to produce The River City Invitational with an educational and fulfilling result for ALL.

The Finals competition will provide for clarification and justification for choir members, band members, directors and spectators.

The lighting and sound WILL be the best experience you will have this season.

We will host you all with the utmost respect regardless of affiliation or previous experiences.

It will be a weekend where everyone can feel at home and comfortable and not have to worry about the unfortunate situation we have all been dealt in the past few years of reformation of central virginia show choir.

I know that you all LOVE what you do- or you would not spend the time money or effort to perfect your shows to the level i have seen you all grow in the past three years. We appreciate it and respect your hard work and dedication and belive you all deserve to be recognized for it!

Thank You so much and see you in April.

We're going!! I don't know where I hear these things, but does the winner of the B division automatically get a spot in finals? Or is it literally the top 6 scores period?

We have VERY few spots remaining. Mainly in the Single-Gender Show Choir Division. We just added 3 new groups to the schedule and can add times if needed but becuase of Finals we dont have much room to add those times.

We will be posting some additional information on the website in the coming weeks!!

Are there any B mixed slots left? If so, is it only the first slot, or are there other times left?

Yeah, it's hard to match a $200-million, 2,000 seat venue in a school down here, with our <2,000 student populations and aging buildings.

What is this performance center concept? It sounds intriguing....

We have contracted a professional lighting, sound and stage production for the event. Trust me you will not be dissappointed- the sound and lighting will match, if not exceed the 'large, professionally designed' auditoriums this area is used to seeing......and hearing. BTW those are stock auditoriums produced along with generic school designs around the country. To see a truly professionally designed theatre in a high school in the area- you have to make a trip to NoVa- or these 'new-fangled' performace centers midwest school systems are implementing at many schools- the PAC in Fairfield, Twinsburg etc.

I can't wait to come see how the format works out. Does anyone know who will be providing staging, lighting, and sound for the show choir portion? I heard it was going to be in the gym, like they have to do it out in the Midwest because of how many people show up.

It's nice to have a large, professionally-designed auditorium.... *sigh* But I can see how it makes sense to get more paying concert-goers into the gym. Pure economics!

The schedule will be posted as we work it out to make sure standing choir and show choirs from the same school do not have cross over times.....

Thank you all very much for your words....

We are very excited to host this event!

See you all there!

P.S. tell everyone about it!!

Also soloist may enter the solo contest as long as they are a bonafide student of a high school- that school does not need to be represented by a choir at The River City Invitational for a student to participate. Entry/ Registration fee is $20.00.
