Just realized that Linn-Mar "Hi-Style" is still listed as a 9th grade prep. They, understandably, chose to compete in the full prep division instead of their own separate division. Thanks!

So excited for tomorrow! Can't wait to see everyone!!!! Safe travels and best of luck!

I apologize for the double-post, but I wanted to update and say that Cameron Sullenberger is no longer judging in the Auditorium. He has been replaced by Jay Burken.

I believe that's the full list (correct me if I'm wrong Jay or anyone else who knows better)

I think you are correct. I believe there is also a caption for Best Costumes and Best Props, but I could be wrong.

Does anyone know what all of the caption awards given, besides BV BC & BB, at this competition?

As usual, we will drop each group's highest and lowest scores to determine final placements
I always really love it when a competition does this. It helps to eliminate and/or contain bias, and is just more fair overall in my opinion.

As the days go by this week the more excited I become! It'll be competitions like these that make me enjoy the fact that I'll just get to sit and watch all day Also, here are some stats shared between the varsity groups (excluding Marshalltown since they haven't competed) at this comp for those of you who like numbers...

5 Grand Championships
4 Best Vocals
5 Best Choreographies
4 Best Bands
8 1st Runner Up or better finishes (out of 11 total comps)
All groups have made finals everywhere they've competed and gotten no less than 4th Runner Up

Those are some pretty good stats if you ask me. Obviously they're not out of this world good, but still pretty good for only 6 groups and about halfway through the season.

According to my knowledge there will be 10 judges in finals:

Pete Eklund
Greg Grove
Dave Fog
Kevin Chase
Duane Philgreen
Michelle Philgreen
Diane Thayer
Nick Quamme
Ines Cring
Ben Schmidt

As usual, we will drop each group's highest and lowest scores to determine final placements

Just looking off the results this competition is going to be amazing. For sure one of the best ones this year! I'm thinking that caption awards will go to all different schools. What do you guys think?

I am very excited to see how well everyone does! I hear that Prairie is fantastic. It really looks like that anyone here has the potential for a GC. This is going to be a phenomenal weekend! Good luck to everyone!!

I just read all about the Davenport competition and Linn-Mar. I understand how it was done, but wow, could show choir be any more confusing than that? Win BC and BV and get 2nd. I'm just astounded.

Oooh, this is not only going to be a tough competition but I have a feeling that Linn Mar may have something to prove considering the Davenport North results... Anyways, I have not seen Prairie in person but have heard that this is one of their best shows in recent years, which is quite impressive considering their previous shows! (I heard them in warm up and they sounded very good.) I have seen Linn Mar, who sings very well and I love their choreo. (Ghost Town is my favorite) I think will hold their own against these great groups. And if I know anything about Xavier Alum Ryan Deignan, he will have brought several clinicians in for Valley and will come out with a very polished show after their placement at Waukee. Every group here honestly is GC material regardless if they have received one yet or not. I have a feeling it will be extremely close.

This competition is definitely going to be a full day of intensity and suspense. I really don't know what to expect from it, but I am very excited, and cannot wait for this. May the best happen to all groups. I am especially excited to go against Wheaton as they have always been one of my favorite groups

Ok is it just me or is this competition looking to be even better and more intense than what was previously thought given how these groups have been placing.....

This will be intense! I believe the top 2 will be between Wheaton and Lincoln SW but all the groups here are very unpredictable and anyone can come up and win this i believe
