Here are the results from Ramona....

6.) Orange Glen
5.) Eastlake
4.) Helix
3.) Serrano
2.) Celebration!
1.) Bonita Vista

Musicianship: Bonita Vista
Showmanship: Bonita Vista
Spirit Award: Celebration!

I was very proud of all the groups. From 3rd to 1st that was a one point difference, so...Hehehehe. And Ramona would have placed 4th if this was a real comp. Sucks for us. Hahahhaa. I felt the night went really smoothly. It was very nice!

Great job to everyone! They all did AWESOME!

to ltvxq, putting your hands over your head and at you're side is a little to easy

Its not the kind of moves that count, its how well you perform them, and with how much energy you put into even the simplest of moves...even a step touch can out do any hardcore difficult move, if its done with more energy...ok, maybe THAT'S an overexaggeration, but you get the point.

Nate~ Since this is my topic, and my bet, then i would say it is fair for me to have to predictions for each place. Its not a test, and its not like I can pay myself

lol, but you CAN go without paying anyone else!

maturity level is veyr important, but i think it would be better for freshman to have a year of "getting used to high school" sorta, and if they join the choral program at the school, the director knows better where to place that individual....

actually in my group, most of the time it's not the freshman " border="0" alt="huh.gif" />

Well, then it comes down to the maturity level of the group.

Jaguarms~ You arent even in show choir, you are a pianist, so shhh! Ron Bolles couldnt place a group first alone, remember that there is more than one judge. And if BV beat Burroughs or Burbank, it would be obviously rigged. You act like you know everything too much. Yes music machine was great in 2001, but that was 2001! What year is it now? Ehh there is no point in arguing with you, you always seem to think you know everything. Just get over it!

RULES:
1. the band is part of the group
2. it is generally assumed that the band knows more about music than the average performer in their group, you have just proven this rule true
3. people get bitter because they want to pawn the blame off on everything else except themselves
4. rule 3 applies to show choir, with relevance to placing (except in certain comps like fullerton and hart)
5. i never said that machine was the best choir this year or last
6. machine was the best choir in the first several years of socal's existence
7. consult haakon if you want to know which choir won each year at that comp and why, he would know better than I
8. do i know everything? no. but do i tell what i do know as accurately as possible? oh yes i do

Machine was good in 2001 cuz they had people with experience, not freshmen who are in an advacned group for their first year being in high school show choir, i believe that is one of the main things!

No Offense to the freshmen, but at our school, you have to be at least  sophmore to get into Chamber Choir, which i believe is a great idea, so that you have experience before performing in front of big audiences that you know only about 1/500 of...

I dont see any reason in not allowing Freshmen to be in an Advnaced group. All i know is Music Machine will be good next year or the year after because all of them will no what to expect. They may have struggled this year but I think they will have their reputation of being a realy good show choir back alot sooner than everyone is thinking.

Darian

Well, i never said that their future wont be bright becuz of the freshmen, becuz almost all of them will be back next year, im just saying that allowing first timers into an advanced group may not be the smartest idea. Plus, another thing in our audition packet, is how mature we are, that gets put into account when considering us for Chamber Choir as well. I mean, its never a good sign to see Freshmen in the same group, arguing, itll cause a lot of problems.

Lostathome~ Brett knows his ****, he knows music, he is a pianist, a guitarist, vocalist, and a song writter. He is one of the most talented people I have ever met! So I'd say he has validation in everything he is saying. Love ya's bye bye

I never said anything depicting Brett's Talent. I like Brett, he's a cool guy and I know he is talented. But I'm just saying you should never put anything past the band members. If you tell someone they don't know what they are talking about just cause they play beind stage instead of on stage, then it is pure ignorance.

...I thought it was cute how you were defending him, but there was no need.

nevertheless, I've met Brett, he's an awesome guy, he even hung out and stayed with me when my car broke at Burrough's

yea. i agree. lol. arcadia doesnt let in freshman either...

and centerstage: chris never said anything about brett not having validation...hes just saying not to think of the band players as ignorant, because they arent...some of them have been in this circut much longer than most of us....

why do people talk about judges being partial to one group? they have personal standards and opnions on what a show choir should be, and if a group happens to fufill them, then they score them higher....not because they like that particular group for a reason other than their performance that night and want that group to score higher......

yea...

weeee....

Hey man, I know you are pissed off, but never put anything past any band member, they are at every festival just like you, and if anything, and Pianist would know about what sounds better than any singer/dancer.

I'm only saying this because I am in the band, not because it's the same band as Jaguarms, but because I am at almost every festival and I've been around this circut for quite a while. So never try and tell any band member that they don't know what they're talking about just cause they're in the band, it's flat out ignorant.

Yes we placed 9 out of 10....possible reasonings...

1. We went on first, which can typically hurt your score, although sound unlimited went first and took first, you have to remember that they are one of the most out standing girls groups and always are.

2. Who was one of the judges? oh!!! was it B.V's old director??? oh yeah it was.

3. SoCal has always been partial to SoCal groups, its just the way it works, always, every year.

4. We were missing people, (key people at that) now being 19 people to begin with, i'd say that would play a little role.

there are more reasons that i can name, but they would be slightly out of line. Thanks for your prediction non the less. Your last place prediction will be sure to give our group a little more insentive to go out there and give it our all. GOOD LUCK CELEBRATION!!!!!!

Ron Bolles is the most fair judge out there, he's had more experience in choir than any other I imagine. He's not partial to BV, otherwise Machine would have won both this year and last instead of Burroughs.

The reason you say they're partial to SoCal choirs is because you're making an opinion of a fact: Music Machine in the first six years of SoCal's existence was the best choir out there hands down, and then in 2000, Burbank took SoCal because it was having an awesome year, Machine was the best choir there in 2001, and Burroughs was good enough to win in 2002, and again this year.

Don't be bitter about that. Just don't assume things like how going first was the decisive reason you guys didn't place.

To the guy that said that Music Machine was the best choir in SoCals's existence (and I'm assuming you mean Southern California), do some research. Ask Mr. Bolles about Company C in 1994. I was the director for that group. We SWEPT EVERY competition. Yes, we even beat the "Infamous" Music Machine. Don't get me wrong, they were AWESOME!!!! But that was only the second year I had the group, and we still SWEPT. My career at that school only lasted 2 short years. I left to take the lead in a Broadway National Tour. I promise you, if I had stayed, we would have continued the sweep. That is a record that Burroughs hasn't even beaten yet. Of course, that was before yours and everyone elses time. And to the gentleman that said our choreography is to easy, I've always had a firm belief; if the dancing detracts from the vocals, you're moving to much. Vocals should ALWAYS come first. Look out for Celebration next year. I PROMISE you; "You ain't seen nothin' yet! If I did it once back on '94 I can sure as hell do it again"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1st- Bonita Vista
2nd- Eastlake
3rd-Celebration
4th-Helix
5th-Serrano

Helix is not going to place higher than Eastlake. Center Stage did very well at SoCal and I saw Helix Guys In Dolls at Fullerton and in my opinion Center Stage is better.
