What is someone from Burbank doing in Nebraska?
Pretty sure that's a bogus account... and the name isn't too tasteful either. Time for a quick time out to give them a chance to clean up their act.
I really wish there were 6 finalists PLUS the auditorium winner. There are so many deserving groups and I feel like it takes away from them when they are limited to less varsity finalists than usual. My alma mater's competition has done this for a long time though, so maybe I'm just used to it.
In addition to this, that group that finishes as the sixth highest scoring group and misses finals will feel that for a long time. My senior year at Emmetsburg, they did the top 5 3A/4A schools + top 1A/2A/prep group made finals. LeMars finished sixth, within a few points of fourth and fifth places and like 40 points ahead of the top 1A/2A/prep group. Yet we didn't make finals because of the rule. Emmetsburg then changed this rule, but that was the only competition we missed finals at that year and to miss it because of a rule was just depressing.
So whoever is that sixth place group today, I feel your pain.

Have I mentioned that Blackout is the most badass name ever? Just sayin.
And their prep is "Power Surge". That is just so clever. They go through a power surge and end up with a blackout. I love clever choirs.
I completely forgot about Pleasant Hill, they are usually one of my favorite groups. I remember the show where they had a ton of trampolines on stage, that was really cool. Now I have no idea what my finals order would be...
personally I think placements will be grouped into 2 groups.
GC Tier:ATSC, pleasant hill, Elkhorn south. This will be an extremely close group. All 3 have competely different show styles. ATSC has the "traditional" few prop style show while Elkhorn South has the visual set show that isnt over the top. Pleasant Hill brings another different style into this group with their California style show. This will be a battle between the three most prominent styles of show. It will be cool to see how the judges compare them together.
Tier 2: Millard West, GISH, GINW, Papio, Norris, Lincoln East, Warrior Express. I think that these groups would be in competition to fill the last 3 spots in finals. All these groups will be extremely close caliber wise. I could see one of these groups jumping up into the "GC Tier".
That beast of a schedule has been updated above. 36 total choirs (including the host choirs) will be performing which sounds totally insane! I'm sure it will be a very fun competition.
Thank you for that. Yeah, it has gotten to be pretty big with the two seperate venues of the prep and womens in the auditorium and open division in the gym.

Pleasant Hill is really good this year so I hope they can make finals! I love their circus themed show!! Great vocals and diction.
Oh right, they are not bad usually either! Thye could make it too.
you need a prep/womens group in finals. 5 from gym and 1 from auditorium make finals.
I see.. huh.
That really changes things, since I'm pretty sure all those groups I listed have finals worthy shows. Hm.
So even if a varsity group has a better score, would the highest Women's/Prep group make it to finals instead?
If so, I guess like I said it would probably be Westside Simply Irresistible or even Westside Warrior Express imo.
GC- Westside - ATSC
1RU- Elkhorn South - Blackout
2RU- Millard West - West In Grove
3RU- Papillion La Vista - Free Spirit
