I agree with a majority of what you have said... But I also feel that you can't judge groups properly off a live stream. The sound is completely different than siting in a gym watching a group. Just my two cents.
After watching all the groups live and seeing results, I can say there were some great groups at this competition.
Just a complaint about the current state of show choir though: it seems to me that a lot of choirs (and judges) have moved away from the fundamentals of vocals and choreography (blend, tone, diction, dynamics (not just pp and FF only) control, and cleanliness). Also, I don't want to hear high school girls belting it out for 15 straight minutes, it's not pretty or pleasing to the ear.
It seems like it's all about who can sing the loudest without regard to blend and tone...Just my opinion though! Ok Rant over ;)
Congrats to a well run competition and all groups competing

I will probably get a ton of down votes on this, and I am not trying to take anything away from any of the groups that performed in finals at the South Classic, but I feel like this competition is a prime example of what performance order can do to placements. If everyone steps it up in finals, and the basic vocal, choreography, and show scores are really close, then I believe that the later you performed the better you score. ALL of the shows were impeccable in finals, but I think that the order of the groups sort of dictated what shows the judges remembered most. (and this is usually the case in my opinion).
ALSO, the major change of placements could be due to the judges giving opinions on the shows and then certain choirs responding in such a way that pleased the judges. A "you did what I wanted you to do, so I'm going to score you higher" type of thing. I know that this is some people's favorite/LEAST favorite thing about the whole idea of finals. Any opinions on this?
Anyways, all in all this competition was awesome. Ran on time for the most part and, as always, had so many incredibly amazing groups. 5 stars.

This is exactly why finals should exist, in my opinion. Otherwise, there's no point in having finals at all. Come on people, like this is the spirit of competition! The place hopping in finals is what makes show choir comps exciting!!
I just feel like there is some bitterness in this forum because of the results. Just be happy for these groups who did well, no need to denounce their personal styles as "unpleasant"
I mean, it seems to have impressed the judges (who are professionals)

Agreed, interesting results. Perhaps this was just a really close competition! Congrats to all groups and thanks for posting results. I missed the awards announcement on the feed so it's really helpful!
Predictions:
Didn't get to stay for finals but this is how I see things playing out based on prelims
GC: Waubonsie BC BV
1RU: Twinsburg
2RU: Buffalo Grove
3RU: Mitchell
4RU: Keller
5RU: John Hersey
I could potentially see Twinsburg take the BC caption going to Twinsburg, they were ready in prelims. I could also see Mitchell and Keller switching either way these finals are insane. Also, I loved the spirit of Keller when they were announced as finalists everyone in the group was hugging each other and that was very cool to see.
