Looks like I am changing my plans this weekend and coming to this blood bath.

This will be one hell of a day of show choir.

After the first day of competitions, it looks like there will be a blood bath next weekend. I'm very excited to be able to attend. Today i witnessed Spectrum and it was simply amazing. The choreo was very clean and the vocals were spot on. I heard that Johnston is very good, so im intrigued to watch them. Urbandale is also very talented again this year. Should be a good battle....

Predictions:

GC: Ankeny Centennial(BV)
1RU: Johnston(BC)
2RU: Urbandale(BB)
3RU: Valley
4RU: Sioux City Easy
5RU: Iowa City West

Holy buckets, this looks like a tough competition! I hope I can make it down to watch! Here are my predictions:

GC: Ankeny Centennial (BC,BV)
1RU: Valley
2RU: Urbandale (BB)
3RU: Iowa City West
4RU: Johnston
5RU: Sioux City East

After seeing Johnston today, and seeing a couple videos of Spectrum, I'm going to be change my predictions to this:

GC: Johnston (BC)
1RU: Ankeny Centennial (BV)
2RU: Urbandale
3RU: Valley
4RU: Sioux City West
5RU: IC West

Ankeny Centennial looks awesome and I predict they will get best vocals, however I feel I may have a hard time watching choreo on a glow in the dark show choir... it's going to be really interesting, and I can't wait to see them. Johnston at Prairie Premiere was AMAZING!!!!! I loved their whole show. They have seemless transitions, both men and women have four costumes and they look amazing! Their choreo was extremely clean, and difficult. And they have a great sound. It's going to be very close between Innovation and Spectrum, and I put them as GC because of the show design. Just wanted to change things up a little bit.

I think everyone will need to change their predictions about Johnston after their Waukee upset

I've been through one too and it severely changed our group because we were used to one directing style and then we had to do a complete 360 with a different director. he may be the best director in the world but it's very hard on students no matter what

Do you mean a complete 180? And from what I have heard secondhand from SC East people, they like their director and are able to work well with him. I'm just saying, one director change does not take a group and completely abolish their past accomplishments and changing directors does not mean a group will be worse off next year, it can be a very positive thing for groups and might even make them better.

No actually I don't agree, I've been through a director change in a varsity group, and if the new director has talent and energy (which this one does), then it can even increase the moral of the group.

Okay, that's your opinion! I don't want them to bad I simply just don't think they will be making finals because switching directors is one of the hardest things on a group. Would you not agree?

To be honest, I don't understand why everyone is continuing this narrative that SC East isn't that good...I'm just saying they beat Mitchell last year. That's an amazing accomplishment, and they have a fantastic new director. I'll be rooting for them to surprise all of you, though them doing well wouldn't be that surprising.

p.s. Are the ambassadors competing next weekend (17th-18th) or are you just supporting Focal Point?
No we are not, just our prep group is competing at Linn-Mar. Our director decided to let each group go solo at one of their competitions this year.

THAT SONG WAS IN MY HEAD FOR THE REST OF THE WEEK
Yeah it was stuck in everyone's head here too. If I got a nickel for every time I heard those words the week after that competition I would've been rich.

Yeah i remember we had enough time to load our truck and pack everything and still make it back for the second half of the choirs.

p.s. Are the ambassadors competing next weekend (17th-18th) or are you just supporting Focal Point?
