As opposed to a non-performing show choir?
So much hostility right now.

I've seen them. They're actually breathtaking. Their mime numbers are tearjerkers for sure.

Loveland "By Request" is the greatest performing show choir in The state of Ohio. Does that clear things up? ;)

I am humbled by your comments . I have had two sons in the group, one graduate and a senior this year. I have proudly served as one of the crew managers and stage managers for Showfest for the past 7 years. We have really come a long way since I first got volunteered by my elder son! After their GC at the Show Choir Nationals in Nashville last year I felt the group had peaked. But honestly, By Request is much better this year. Show Choir has been a great experience a source many life long friendships you all should be extremely proud of your groups and their accomplishments regardless of where they finish in finals, it all about the experience not the trophy. Have fun.

If we're getting picky with captions and accuracy, Clover Hill has to be the favorite to win Best Band. There for a while CH had a streak of 10 consecutive BB captions which was finally broken last year. And even with that streak ending, CH still won BB at Show Choir Nationals last year which is pretty impressive.

Granted, the last time CH competed in Ohio that was when their BB streak ended, but I still think CH is probably the favorite from an unbiased and statistical standpoint.

Yes thanks. Ive been in Clover Hills Show Band for Four years now and We ended our streak last year with 18 unfortunately. But since then we have picked it back up and now are at six and are going to continue it for the rest of the season.

So I might not be Jeff, but I have some notes on how I felt about the finals groups last night

Hamilton: To start, seeing a Robin Hood themed show is something I've always wanted. The costumes fit it perfectly. The opener was my favorite show choir song of the show, but I definitely think the second half did a much better job of portraying the actual story element of the show. I was especially confused about the second number and the magazines, but I'm sure there was a solid reason. I think you guys have an extremely underrated show this year! Great job.

Lebanon: The most "classic show choir" in finals goes out to you! The beginning was extremely strong energy wise, but make sure to keep it going through the end! The second number soloists were both amazing...that growl the girl gave. Wow. So good. The ballad was my favorite of the night. Super beautiful, great solo, overall did well. I noticed a few times of the combo and the singer/dancers not all syncing up in the second half, but I really liked the show! Congrats on a great day.

South Dearborn: Wow wow WOW. I cannot stop talking about you guys. Literally blown away from knowing nothing about you before your performance. It was seriously so great. The backdrop was simple but elegant, the choreo was clean from beginning to end, the size of the group is the only thing holding you back. There were moments, especially in the ballad, where I got chills, but at other times there just weren't enough people to blow me away with sound. The add-on in the closer was really awesome, and you kept it going through the end. I seriously am in love with your show, and y'all have a lot to be proud of.

Colerain: Your diction was, in my opinion, the best of all of the groups. Extremely strong. I also love being able to look at everyone on stage and see them performing...not everyone in the back is always performing, but you guys did not have that problem! I have to say that Dream On was performed beautifully as a ballad, absolutely amazing vocally. Radioactive is probably my favorite girls number thus far this year, it truly was in your face kick butt awesome. The only critique I had was to keep the energy up even when you're exhausted. It's hard, but if you do, you do amazing things. I was also a little confused by the second outfits and how they fit the show? I liked them I was just confused! Great job yesterday! Can't wait to see you at South Dearborn.

Clover Hill: Congratulations! A well-deserved GC for you guys. The vocals in the opener absolutely KILLED. Choreo was also extremely clean. The 2nd number quick change for the girls...I mean who can't take off a ballgown in one spin? Crazy incredible. The second blocking in the ballad was absolutely gorgeous, like your singing. The crescendos in it were breathtaking. Also the dynamic contrast throughout the show was perfect, and I hate using that word. A cappella number was definitely fun, background harmonies had beautiful blend. The guys number stole the show for me. So much fun. The tutting stuff was so cool and the choreo in the closer in general was the most clean of the show. I was extremely impressed with the show. I hope to see you win many more this year!

Loveland: Note: I don't have a bad thing to say about this show. Literally in love. My favorite in Ohio this season. From start to finish it was glorious. The vocals were beautiful and well-supported, the choreo was difficult by super clean, the band was perfectly in sync. I might be biased since I absolutely love Scott Alan, but what a ballad The quintet was super fierce and I loved it, the closer keeps up with the rest of the show...Man, Shawn Miller has made his group into the elite category of Ohio. Y'all kick some serious butt.

I am happy to have attended Showfest this year! It was a great competition with some great groups, even after Edgewood and Teays had to drop. Hopefully I can come back next year. Good luck to all of the groups in the rest of their seasons!

"By Request" is the best? Or do you mean Showfest is the best competition? Both could be applicable and valid opinions, I was just curious.

I believe he was going for the fact that they give the best host performance

Oh, yeah. I hate that Ohio does that.

I'm literally updating events everywhere else in the country and NO ONE ELSE DOES THAT.

So there weren't Best Vocal/Best Choreography captions at Showfest? Seems strange since they awarded other captions and did award those captions last year.

From the Showfest twitter:

GC: Clover HIll
1RU: Colerain
2RU: Hamilton
3RU: South Dearborn
4RU: Lebanon

They didn't post the captions yet.

From what I now understand, they did not announce captions at finals awards.

Congratulations to ALL who participated, I heard it was a wonderful day!

Also, an extra shoutout to those who were unable to compete today across the midwest. May the rest of your season be free of any obstacles, especially snow!
