For Ethan, SI finished 7th overall after the daytime.

But they never intended making finals when they entered in the open class. Their band was at a competition in the morning and wouldn't be able to make it at all for the Women's Division. They just barely made it there in time for their spot in Open Class.

and the rest of my opinions

Papio Lavista South....First I will start with where I had you guys in each category. I had you 3rd vocally and 2nd choreographically. I thought that your vocals were great at times but inconsistent. I like the ballad but the dynamic changes were the same every time. Try using more dynamic contrasts especially during a cappela sections. The choreo was clearly 2nd best in prelims and finals. Clean but not clean enough to earn the best choreography. I also thought it could have been a little more difficult. From people I was talking to you were gonna be the group, if a group did, to beat ATSC but I felt underwhelmed during finals and felt that all the other groups really upped it. Because of this I had you dropping.. In order for you to be able to compete on that level you needed a more mature sound. Adding more space would take your vocals so far. I honestly had you in 2RU but you were still very deserving of 1RU. Congratulations of a strong finish.

Millard North....I have never seen a Millard North kid on this site so this one will be short. Second best vocals and band of the day. Choreography was a little scattered but still good. The guys number was fun but the girls was my favorite during prelims and second favorite during finals behind ATSC. Your band was great and really knew how to play the crowd ESPECIALLY the guitar player. I honestly thought that you guys had jumped into 1RU during finals because you all turned it WAY up.

MIllard West...I thought that you guys had good vocals. You had good choreography when it comes to matching the music but I was not a fan of the songs. I liked the opener but from there I was just like eh. I didn't hate the songs but it was just not my favorite of the day. I felt that some of the guys went too far with their movements. One point that stuck out to me was the first guy when he came out onto stage. I am a big fan of being genuine in a show...like it is really important for me. I felt that some of the guys in particular did exactly what they were told to do without adding their own personalities to the music. Overall I felt that your ranking was correct at 3RU.

PAPIO LA VISTA....look at the Ralston comments. It was basically the same comments.

Rock Bridge....I was in the bathroom so I didn't have to go during awards

Congrats to everyone on a very well run competition...does this one always run so late?

Because of certain people on this thread I'm very curious if anyone knows where SI finished? My guess is somewhere in the 7-10 range. But can anyone confirm?

Great job to everyone who performed yesterday! It was great to see so many talented choirs perform & I was blown away by how nice and friendly everyone was. What a great festival to have attended!

So I am completely exhausted right now so I will only comment on the top 3 groups and do the other 3 tomorrow

My Personal List of finalists
Millard West
Papillion La Vista
Westside ATSC
Millard North
Papillion La Vista South
Simply Irresistible barely beating out rock bridge

How I had it after finals
GC:ATSC(SWEEP)
1RU:Millard North
2RU: Papio South
3RU:Millard West
4RU: Papio La Vista
5RU:Rock Bridge

ATSC......Where do I start. My thoughts might seem jumbled and I will probably jump around a lot but bear with me. I was looking through other forums and looking at people post about other groups. One person said that certain groups show will always have a place in his heart. That is how I feel with your show and you all as performers. I loved the guy that I met. He was extremely nice and showed me where the concessions were. Alright back to the show. I honestly had a quite sizeable gap between you and everyone else after prelims. I thought that you had won all three judging categories. I did however feel that the closer did not pop quite like it did at Ralston. It did how ever POP during finals. I thought that you guys outsang everyone which was shown by the best vocals award. Same with choreo and band. OOOOKKKK....OPENER.....ummm how do I say holy s***(will I get in trouble for saying this?). Absolutely stunning. I liked everything though except there was some inconsistencies in the facials during this song. Especially with the girls. I'm guess that your critique judge told you though because it was fixed by finals. Mad Hatter.....first off love this musical and it deserved better than the fate it received.....Facials were consistent throughout the choir. They sputtered out as the song progressed but then BOOM dance break and the facials back. One of my favorite songs of the year and it is just danced and sung so perfectly. BALLAD.....this one song made my cry all 4 times I have seen it live(prelims and finals here and at Ralston). This song is the main reason that your show will always have a place with me. It was sung so beautifully during both day and night. This in my opinion sealed best vocals and band. I feel that most groups are afraid to let their bands go during their ballads but you guys have the vocals to back it up. PRISONER....ummm again holy s***. There was so much improvement between day and night with this song alone. It was good during prelims but after seeing it at Ralston finals I knew where it could be and you got it there during finals. Girls......umm damn you guys absolutely killed it. I felt UNDERwhelmed after hearing it in prelims especially after the show so far. But during finals you guys looked and sounded like you were daring the judges to take it from you. Closer.....prelims was good but again during finals it was just BOOM. I just want to say thank you for giving the audience your show. I actually started tearing up as I wrote this because I feel like I have such a connection to your show. Please keep doing what you are doing. Best Wishes at Chicago,
Jamison Corca

ok so I am too tired and emotional to write more.....I'll finish tomorrow

I didn't stay for finals but watched groups this afternoon. I was surprised that Heelan wasn't in the top six. Westside SHOULD be GC if they hit tonight. They were a notch above the rest this afternoon. I think it could be a toss up between Papio-LV So and Papio LV for 1st runner up along with Rock Bridge. Simply Irresistible didn't have their best performance this afternoon but certainly had potential to crack the top six. Warrior Express was not eligible for finals. I anxiously await results from my friends still at LC.

Congrats on the Westside Connection win!

Congrats to Westside Connection and Ralston Riot!

Predictions:

GC: ATSC
1RU: Papillion La Vista South
2RU: Papillion La Vista
3RU: Millard North
4RU: Millard West
5RU: Bishop Heelan

Westside has had a few competitions this year already. So they have been working on their show for a while and have been working with a few critiques. They also have lots of momentum coming here with i think three GC in a row. Titanium is a good and strong group too though, who is coming off of one GC as well. It will be a close one, but i believe that ATSC will come out on top.

Papio LV is coming off of a great showing at Heelan's competition, and have a solid show. I haven't seen Millard North's or West's show since Millard West's competition, but i had them pretty evenly matched. It will be a big tussle between those three in my opinion.

Bishop had a good show at their own exhibition. The fact that they will be performing even more because its not just an exhibition, and that they shaved time off their show will help a lot and should get them into finals and maybe in the toss up with Papio LV, Millard West, and Millard North.

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE PERFORMING TOMORROW :D

thank you for kind of "having my back". i will, from now on, no longer voice my opinion on this website to avoid all of the criticism that comes with it when everyone else can do it and everyone be fine with it. ill keep everything to myself now.

you dont need to stop posting your opinions entirely. A good rule of thumb is to not post you opinions of any groups at a competition you attended. No body gets criticized for doing that. That is what I meant by my earlier post.

Perhaps I have a different criteria for downvoting than most people on here. I don't downvote someone because I disagree with the opinions they state. I downvote someone when I think they state their opinion in a crass/rude way or are displaying opinions that run so strongly counter to fact that they are ridiculous. I disagree with bbean2013's predictions, but Titanium is a good show choir and believing that they can beat ATSC isn't an insane proposition. I'm not the moral authority on downvotes here on SCC but I urge you not to click that little thumbs-down button simply because you disagree with what they said.
