NOT RESULTS, predictions by untrained, non-professional:

GC-ATSC
1RU-GISH
2RU-GINW
3RU-D-West
4RU-Norris
5RU-warrior Express

I definitely see some room for changes to this. Will try to post results.

norris is currently in 4th? I think? Davenport west is in 5th. Realistically and not trying to seem biased but I don't thin west deserves this. I talked to the director and she said the only comment they got was that the closer needed to be shortened.. Other than that I don't think west has ever looked this good.. And I was in the group.. They're about to go for finals now so we'll see if they can adjust to cutting an entire verse out of the closer in an hour. Norris just went and had a solid finals performance. Could move up.

From what I hear, Norris sings rather well this year and GISH is much better than they have been before, plus GINW is always very good.

I wouldn't claim to be an authority but I can give my opinions later. D-west is about to go, I didn't see them earlier today. Hope they put on a good show.

To the girls sitting behind me, I will take it as a compliment that you think we focus on vocals in Nebraska. I'm not sure Wisconsin would like that you think they focus on dancing. Warrior Express went first in finals, it was a solid prep performance but shuldnt be a huge factor for the rest of the choirs tonight.

My predictions are still on except for Warrior Express! Congratulations on making finals and beating out your sister squad Simply Irresistible.

I'm gonna stick with my same predictions.

GC. Omaha Westside
1RU. Davenport West
2RU. Grand Island Northwest
3RU. Grand Island Senior High
4RU. Norris
5RU. Warrior Express

Does anyone have any opinions on the shows? I'm particularly interested in Davenport West and Norris' shows, simply because they're the ones I haven't seen this year.

Also does anyone have point spread and prelim placements?

Things are going well over there so far. Prep and Women's groups are in the auditorium and the Varsity groups are in the gym. The gym setup is better than I expected, with one disappointment being the lack of a hanging choir mic or something similar. This shouldn't make or break any shows, but it is sad when a group is several times louder when they are closer to the front of the stage compared to when they are towards the back. Stage is much more secure than in the past (the back risers formed one of those infamous platform crevices my junior year).

I originally intended not to go back for finals but I think I might. I'll try to post any results I can if I don't get beaten to it. Good luck everyone.

This is a site to post idea's, critizisems (spelled wrongly), and complement every group. A veauge (also wrong) good job is nice every once and a while; some groups don't have other people run up to them and say how much they love their show, but here they get to see it. Sometimes people can say things that are hurtful on here, but it's usualy just because people can't take critizisem (see previous note) from "non-judges". I don't think that people should say things specifically to hurt people or groups on here, but I do think that people should say what they want to say about how a group did. This is true, as long as they have a reason and a point other then to hurt or humiliate.
To some this is a competitive sport and every time you take a competition you will automatically rank your group in with the others... it's human nature to rate yourself to thos around you.
Yes people need to focus in on the important side of competitive show choir, but if that is what you are looking for 100% of the time, this is NOT the place for you to be visiting.
This site teaches people that what they say may have a big impact on someone else. If you are going to say something be sure to think it through. This site also teaches people to handle critizisem in a positive manner, and handle praise with humility and humbleness (2 things that will take you far in a life as a performer). Thank you SC.C

You make valid points- and yes I'm knew to this site as you can tell by my "joined" date, but my two sense isn't because I was offended by what you said about my group or how you ranked us, just some comments that get thrown out there as if people from other schools don't read them. I apologize if I came off rude- just thought it was worth bringing up.

I find this attitude frustrating. Too many people come on SCC and say stuff like "Everyone did amazing! Every group was soooo good!" without any form of criticism. And whenever some criticisms are made, it seems - like clockwork - that at least one person will be offended. In some other thread someone commented that they had heard a group didn't do very well at a particular competition and were lit up for it. The "PC"ness of showchoir.com is really, reeeeeally getting out of control and everyone needs to realize that there will be criticism. This is a competitive activity for the majority of us, after all. Why can the judges say things, but no one else can? I would hope you wouldn't react to a judge giving criticism in the same fashion!

Please note that this is a general response merely inspired by kdblonde's post, but definitely not directed only at him.

As you will see, Mr. Davis, SCC forums are pretty much all about making predictions. People get on here specifically to make them or read them. Honestly, SCC wouldn't be SCC without them.

Everyone on here was or is in some way associated with show choir, so they all know about the "everyone is in for a good day, performing their best, and having a good time" sentiment. No one is denying that. But people thrive on guessing and predicting. It's not just on SCC. Do you have an opinion on who's going to win the superbowl Sunday? If you do, then you're a hypocrite. We're all on here giving our opinions and predicting what's going to happen. It's not like we care if we're right or wrong (usually), it's just giving our 2 cents on the competition.

And as for whatever I said you took as rude, well, I'm not exactly sorry because it was more than likely true. But I'm just being honest and, again, giving MY opinion. And, again, 80% of the people on these boards give their honest opinions, too. It might not always be happy and heart warming. But more than likely, it's stone cold true.

Plus, I gave GINW 2RU in these predictions. With the line up here, how could you be disappointed in that? And I loved you guys at Omaha. You confuse me, sir.

Personally, I love getting on here and reading predictions! It gives me fire, and motivates me to prove people wrong. Last week, the group I'm apart of wasn't even expected by most to final, and that drove me and my group to want to go out there and show everyone what we've been working so hard for and we got fourth! It's always cool also to get on the forum after a competition and read everyones feedback. I LOVE SCC, and would be so far out of the loop without it. So thank you creator! (:

Ps. I can't wait untill tomorrow, I'll be wandering around in a navy and red dress with cowboy boots if you want to say hello! (: Good luck to all groups and come watch Ultimate Image at 10:30 if you can!

This is Omaha Westside we are talking about. The only group they lose to in Nebraska is Ankeny. Davenport West did do really well here last year, and Iowa groups tend to score very well in Nebraska (especially vocally). The only group I've seen this year is Omaha Westside, and while it's definitely not the most exciting show, it should sweep here. Norris will probably surprise a lot of groups here. Omaha Westside girls are normally really good and could definitely challenge for finals, even though they are super early (that could actually help them). It will be a fun competition, for sure.
Ankeny is not in Nebraska btw

Agreed. It seems like Southwest and Grand Island Northwest are the only two groups who have come close. It is true though that Davenport West beat GINW last year at this competition so who knows? Still gonna bet on Westside taking it.

I'll be making an appearance to cheer for my little sister in Simply Irresistible and then my old show choir, ATSC. Glad to hear SI is eligible for finals, I haven't seen many of these show choirs yet but I don't think it would be a terrible longshot for them to be in the top 6 even without the 5+1 setup. We have to see how everything works out though, per usual.

GISH was the major challenger to ATSC back around 2003-2005. Then LSW and more recently GINW.

I probably won't stay late enough to see Davenport West, but I do hope to see Papio and GISH and some of those other schools I used to get to compete against all the time...oh the glory days. :p

I actually could have summed this reply up with a quote from the famous Corey Matthews: "What, are you new here?"
