Probably b/c the Single-Gender groups only perform once and the mixed groups are eligible for finals in the evening. Probably trying to afford the mixed groups a more than sufficient break if they happen to make finals.
Good point I didnt think about it that way. I talked to some friends that are still in the group and they did say it felt weird performing that early but they said they seemed much more rested and energized for there second performance.
Performing in finals at Branson: Center Grove, South Jones, Rock Bridge and Petal. Prelims South Jones best vocals, Center Grove best choro and best combo
This is just a question I have about Fame. Why would mixed groups perform so early in the morning and single gender in the afternoon? This goes against just about every regular season competition lol
FAME did that in Chicago in 08. Single-Gender groups went after the mixed groups in prelims.

This will be an exciting time for Center Grove, alot of Freshman Debtones who are learning the FAME forum and of course hearing alot of excellent choirs! Good Luck for everyone!

I don't believe Single-Gender groups can make finals. There are 7 mixed groups going with 4 finalists it looks like. I would just assume they would crown the Single-Gender winner after prelims, and not let them be in finals, since there is now a Single-Gender Nationals division. After all, at FAME LA, Brea Olinda's girls group reportedly had the highest score out of ALL the competing choirs there in prelims, but they did not add them to finals.
That is correct; only the mixed groups are eligible.
oh wow so theres only7 competing? Since Single-Gender make finals?

I expect Lincoln East to do pretty well and make finals at this competition. They've done pretty decent this year. I know they were ahead of GINW and Elkhorn South after prelims at GISH's competition, and they did beat Bishop Heelan once this year too. I doubt they have a huge shot for GC but I wouldn't be surprised to see them anywhere else in the final standings. Good luck to Express and have a safe trip.
Also good luck to the southern groups. These groups always have some of the nicest kids year in and year out so if I were a northern group, I'd definitely make friends with them. If nothing else, you at least get to hear awesome accents
