Wow, Clover Hill's turning Wonderwall into a jazz number is so sick...I almost wish it was recorded that way. Also, congrats to Poca on a great performance, way to represent West Virginia in a great way.
It was recorded that way by Paul Anka. He has two CDs full of swing adaptations of rock songs - some very cool stuff - Wonderwall is one of my favorites.
I believe it was an identical arrangement with mostly the same choreography.
Recycling someone else's well known chart is not any way to gain a national reputation, even if it's well done.
it should have been completely dark, with a spotlight on our itsy bitsy spider soloist, and then spotlight on our spider woman soloist, and then once her solo was over the lights should have came on a little. but not completely on. they did better on the lighting tonight then they did this morning haha & i wish he got our name right at first hahaha but it's not his fault.
I'm glad the lights being dark was a choice, not a mistake. I like the idea.
For what it's worth... Norwell HS only has about 850 students. (Northridge has about 1100... but we don't crossover our girls. Then again, our girls didn't make finals!)
I was referring to Bonita Vista with 2500 students.
I wonder if they would have a good turnout next year after all the complaints this year
Cut em a little slack though, it's their first competition year. And I'd be impressed if it ran smoothly at all considering it's a competition of this magnitude. Some of the mistakes are unforgivable, though, such as Bonita Vista's lighting issues.

EDIT: Clover Hill has one of the best bands I've heard all year. In part because they're emphasizing the guitar much more than most groups do and it sounds fuller because of it.

Häakon, I'm pretty sure most schools with girls groups in our neck of the woods have girls in both mixed and girls groups.
I have to agree with that. It's at least really common in Indy. It's not all the same girls, but a few cross over for numbers and occasionally leadership purposes. I've never seen it give an unfair advantage. If anything it's more work for those students which is why, at least while i was in school, they were trying to cut down for the sake of not making a few people perform 4 times in a day.
Thanks for the info, I'll fix that above. I'm not sure sharing girls is very fair, though.
i agree, isn't that against the rules in cali now?? haha a certain school had the same girls in ALL their choirs, including their intermediate groups! sooo not fair!!!
YES they did. Northern Lights swapped with them at their request.
Norwell Knight Moves (mixed) has several of the girls if not most who are also in their LADIES' group which also made finals. They wanted a little more time to recuperate before performing again... so NL gave up their later spot for Norwell.
