I once drove from Seattle Washington, through Canada, and all the way around Alaska, then back through Canada to Seattle again, all in 1 week. About 18 hours a day with five people in a 5 seat car. Yeah.
I know the feeling, We took a 16 hour bus trip from Cleveland, OH to Branson, MO for FAME Branson one year.
I drove from Burbank to Fairfield for the Crystal Classic last year... that was a loooong drive.
Green Bay is slightly closer than Cedar Rapids, I think. Plus you have to add in the fact that driving through Iowa is so boring that it seems doubly as long than it actually is.
lol that is true. Although we only have to drive through eastern iowa. much less boring and a lot quicker than driving through Western Iowa. West of Des Moines KILLS me. I guess i just assumed GB would be farther than Cedar Rapids. Guess I'm wrong though.
wow i'm surprised it's that short for y'all. when we went to NY (also stayed at the marquis) it took us like 18 hours there and 22 on the way back.... :-/

No one who is flying is allowed to complain-----keep your eye out for Preble Center Stage after we step off a 15 hour bus ride!!

Small school/groups have been making strong names for themselves. Unfortunately many still do not give them full credit like the large schools/groups. Even at this competition there are 4 small mixed finalists and 5 large, and the prize money for the divisions is a pretty sizable difference.
That is a good point. People don't always give the smaller schools full credit.
However, concerning this specific competition having 4 small and 5 large with different prizes. Antwon said from the beginning the competition would be set up so small groups could compete with the large groups in their division. Large groups would just not be allowed to bump down to small. So if you are feeling gipped on prize money, or being in the wrong division, talk to your director. They are the ones who put you there.

Either way, we are very happy to represent for the small schools!!! It will be a great experience for the students to compete with choirs from across the country, and get to see how others interpret what show choir is.
I'm not impressed that each division has its own finals. Though its good for the smaller schools, I think that some of the small mixed groups could hang in the top five overall. Just my opinion.
I agree and disagree. This is a REALLY great bunch of smaller schools. But I actually like the idea of having their own separate competition. Yah some of them could do really really well in finals. But it's like having two separate but just as good competitions at one place. I'm personally way more excited for the small school competition than I am for the large mixed. It's just a lot closer and a lot more competitive. I need to re-make my small school predictions cuz I left out Bonita Vista and they are having a good year.
small mixed:
GC: Norwell
1RU: Poca
2RU: Bonita Vista
3RU: Green Bay Preble
