ThatSoundDude782,
If I'm not mistaken (if I am, someone let me know), Lafayette Jefferson was indeed marked down for leaving "part of their set" on the stage. Also, I think they were over the time limit, leaving them fourth going in to finals. Correct? I think my sources are very reliable.

Matthew

I have not seen the score sheets, so i really wouldn't know. Thanks for letting me know they got counted off during the day, because they should have. But i thought i heard they didn't get a penalty in the finals, but i could be wrong.

I agree Caitlin on everything you said. You speak well. I agree on LoverEnPink as well. LoverEnPink, didn't you graduate from LN like 2 years ago? I remember you saying something about that and now you go to Ball State. Is it a good school? I'm looking in to Ball State-

pike girls, i thought, would have made finals, but i didnt see them this weekend so i dont really know.  i must admit though, i was kind of suprised by their placement at mooresville (it was either 4th or 5th because mtz girls were 1ru and hipstreet was 2ru). we watched them and figured they'd come in near us. but mooresville was different judges and a different story.

in any event, what happened, happened. i'm really sorry to pike girls because i can tell you all really wanted it, and i commend you for it and support that, and i love cassie fitch cuz she's just the coolest thing since sliced bread.

caitlin, you are fantastic (but sliced bread is pretty cool, LoL). Thanks for saying nice stuff about us. I know....I know....I'm the thank you queen of this topic but oh well. We really appreciate all the nice things everyone has said. I'm not going to state my feelings on this topic (cuz I'm obviously extremely biased), but I did love watching the shows and hanging out with everyone at LC. and caitlin, you're facials were awesome.

i thought LC was a good competition. for the most part, i thought the judging was fair... had a complaint about one judge, but i'm willing to accept that it was her opinion, i mean afterall thats what it all is, her opinion of us, and i cant control it whatever .... and i wasn't suprised by the places any choir recieved.

now about varisty singers, i can understand bitterness, they're from my school and i was a lil unnerved they'd be competing with girls because its like apples and oranges, you just cant compare. but in their defense, they did not do all unison... their opener was 3 parts... sieze the day... nearly the same arrangement the accents, the girls group from NC, did the year before... i can't speak for the other songs cuz i wasnt really paying attention, and yes i realize the ballad was alot of soloists, but whatev, you're allowed to do that. aLOT of choirs open and close every song they do with soloists. they have the same "Woody" Choreography as Laff Jeff, CP, Mooresville, Descants... its the same caliber stuff, just done by guys. i'm not a big fan of guys competing against girls like that either, but we hafta give them some credit. just because they're guys doesnt mean they cant do show choir, but just because they're guys doesnt mean they should win. and they didnt. i thought they were ranked (in finals) appropriately, and to be honest the guys didnt really care- they just wanted to have fun, something i think alot of us wish we could do without getting upset over winners (myself included pinch.gif ) and they did, and happened to do well.
pike girls, i thought, would have made finals, but i didnt see them this weekend so i dont really know. i must admit though, i was kind of suprised by their placement at mooresville (it was either 4th or 5th because mtz girls were 1ru and hipstreet was 2ru). we watched them and figured they'd come in near us. but mooresville was different judges and a different story.

in any event, what happened, happened. i'm really sorry to pike girls because i can tell you all really wanted it, and i commend you for it and support that, and i love cassie fitch cuz she's just the coolest thing since sliced bread. the NC boys group competes at this competition every year, but last year there was a guys group for them to compete against. the only reason they created a Single-Gender was so those guys could compete period. its their ONLY competition every year, and they look forward to it just as much as anyone else going to a competition does. so basically, for all of you who dont like it and want to change it, have your director send a guys choir to LC next year, and then they can re-establish the guys as a festival class, and we can go back to women's finals and the whole "separate but equal" thing.

and in response to "loverENpink"-- yah you're exactly right... and unlike probably half those groups, VS dont practice outside of school. just the 50 minutes (if that) of class.

anyways, i can understand why people dont approve. i didnt, and i was bitter. but theres nothing anyone can do about it. please don't put the guys down. its not like its THEIR fault they got put in the "Single-Gender" division... its not THEIR fault no other guys group signed up to compete. and we'd be ignorant to pretend it was.

Warren Central, Pike, and Castle would have been my three picks over the Varsity Singers from NC.

to rate the top 5:

1. Carmel
2. Pike
3. NC Girls
4. Castle
5. Warren Central

Thank you for putting us in finals. It was our last comp and we really wanted to make it. Thank you for thinking so highly of us. We really do appreciate it.

One thing I hafta say is that *North Central* Varsity Singers *(the guys group)* did not deserve to make it in finals.  Much love for all the guys, I know that that's not done very often, but to put a show in for novelty is wrong.  Let me restate the fact that it is great to get more guys into show choir, but these guys were not up to par.  There were at least 3 other groups that should have made it in before them.  There was no harmony, the whole show.  Let me emphasize this, NO HARMONY.  And for their ballad, they had five soloists sing, while the rest of the group went "Ooo".  I'm gonna say this again, I love that there are now guys show choirs, but the reason they make finals shouldn't be because of their reproductive organs, but because of their talent.

The way things should have been

GC - North Central
1RU - Teays Valley
2RU - Pike
3RU - Laffeyette Jefferson
4RU - Plainfield

Many thanks to LC for hosting a great competition, with many great groups involved.  I'd would caution you all think twice, next year, about the judges that you choose.

Well....that's my opinion, and I really don't care if you disagree with it.

* = edit

Whoa Whoa Whoa!!!!!!!! Hey now! It's one thing giving your opinion about how you didn't approve of them making finals! But, saying they weren't talented is anther thing! I have a lot of personal relationships with a lot of those guys and they ARE talented. They can sing, they can dance, they can play sports well, they have good grades, they have a lot of talent! You are being a little bitter, of course. And yes there was Harmony you deafass. Do you want me to send you their arrangemens??

The ballad might have been a lack of an all group thing, but it sure got the audience into it. They had a lot of solos which made up for it. If it was just ONE soloist then yes, that would be a bit over the top..

Note: This was there first time ever performing their WHOLE set...we just started this choir this year and they hadn't even had a pratice performance for an audience ever!

I'm sorry, but these guys had a lot of talent. That's really rude of you to say they had no talent at all. I don't believe they made finals becuase they had penises. I think they made finals because they had good vocals and a good show. The next time you shoot a choir down saying they have no talent, get to know each and every one of them personally first before bashing them like they aren't human beings with nothing special..

THANKS THOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My opinion of the groups

Mixed

Pike - I really like the cultural theme.  At some points the sound was breathy.  The dancing really fit the styles of music.  I wish that more of it would have been understandable.  You guys really have improved since your first comp at CG, I couldn't believe it was the same group.  Major Kudos for doing this w/o your director.

Laff. Jeff. - It didn't seem that you guys were up to the standard of years past, overall, but mostly vocally.  The choreo was pretty good and very very clean.  I liked the theme, drew me in.  Your soloists were good.  Some things I didn't like were the closer costumes, they looked like a bag of skittles, the strobe lights, they did absolutely nothing, and the confetti, it was really annoying.  You should have been counted off considering that your confetti was falling during North Central's show, I think that's leaving stuff on stage.

Teays Valley - You guys impressed me a lot.  Very professional and and for the most part, modest.  The soloists were awesome.  Major bonus points.  And the choreo was one of the hardest, and cleanest at the competition.  Vocals weren't great, but were def. up there.  Just work on the vocals a little more this week, and you'll be up in the top 2, anywhere you go.

Plainfield - This show didn't do much for me.  I never had anything to get excited about.  The choreo was fairly plain and seemed realitively simple.  The vocals were decent, but again nothing special comes to mind.  I think i remember you doing a tap number, but i sure could be wrong.  I was surprised in your change in position from Pike to this comp.

North Central - What can I say, but wow?  This was an amazing overall show.  You guys def. deserved best vocals.  That Ballad is still stuck in my head.  Choreo was great with the music.  Soloists were better than awesome, they were superb.  The opening soloist def. got me hyped.  The only two things that I can find wrong with your show is the soloist during the ballad (that doo will haunt me all of my days), and the fishnet for the guys on the closer.  All in all tho, you guys were the best at this competetion.

P.S.....Pike dont take that comment as a choir bashing comment it is not ment to be one at all...
