Dear sir, I can understand and accept your opinion about the show and the awards that were given, however, I don't understand how you came to the conclusion after watching the show ONE time (or possibly two) that they care about the score sheet alone.

Ok.. Yes I believe that the way that show choir is defined is changing, it is no longer going to be 5 songs blah blah blah... But I do believe that in a show the choir must sing and dance together. This means at the same time not walk around in circles point and sing amazingly.. That is not dancing, that is exactly what I described it to be, I am not trying to take away from your amazing vocal performance when I am watching a show with people walking around I think of a broadway musical.. If I were to go see that specific performance done on broadway then yes I would love it but in the show choir world I think it's horrible. I do not believe that a group should win best choreography off 2 numbers. I honestly think one of the reasons that groups like that win is because they are just walking around being able to sing because all they care about is that score sheet. Since vocals go for more most choirs lean towards the vocal portion of the show and do not care about give the audience a fun filled show with exciting dance breaks and wonderful vocal moments. Any choir can just stand there and sing and walk around and be incredible I promise. Those are a few of my thoughts...

You must not have seen the guys or girls feature, and by the way, the award was "Best Choreography" and NOT "The Best Same Dance Moves" (that are done in every show choir performance).
Not to mention, when Centerstage danced, they actually DANCED. Not just jerky arm movements with simple feet combinations.
So, last night was amazing. All the groups were amazing in finals. For sure Albertville and Petal were awesome. I loved Petal's show. They had the best "show choir" show considering up against Albertville having an amazing musical on stage. Petal did not do to bad behind Albertville. They were 6 points behind in the overall score. The ballod for Petal was the best at the competition, although they were a little sluggish in the beginning of finals in the opener, but when Paparazzi started they really got some energy going. The second group of guys need a lot of work and those white shirts do nothing for them on stage. It would look sweet with like some cool hang out white button up shirts like "Company" guys had. I would think it to be cool if the guys wore converse in the closer because of their black pants and the coats. Did anyone else think that Albertville had a more weird show this year. I thought they had amazing vocals but winning choreography I don't think should have happened. They don't DANCE a lot. It is just a lot of ballod stuff. Also, did anyone else notice that Petal had the most difficult show choreography based and that no one else did lifts in their show except for Petal? Anyway, I thought everyone did and for sure NE under the circumstances. Great job everyone!
last time i checked....doing 18 paddle turns in a row...and 72 jazz kicks does not validate petal's choreography as the best. as for lifts....if seeing them actually come together and not fall apart is a rarity, then that makes the lift pointless. much of this quote is not valid.

Due to our 1st competition being cancelled I wasn't much in the "show choir" mood, but once you wake up and ride on the bus... those wonderful memories of show choir begin to come back. (:

I have been to a lot of competitions in my 10yrs of show choir and - agree..... Congrats to the entire South Jones show choir organization for all the dedication and hard work that went into maiking this a great event!!
I might add that everything strated on time... Stayed on time and finished on time!!!

I feel the winds of change coming to the show choir world.
With that said....I would much rather watch an intense emotional musical experience than the same old show choir numbers that have been done year after year since 1988. All the choirs yesterday at one point in their show or another gave me that edge of the seat experience that I enjoy. Some just did it better that others. Keep up the hard work this year and I know I will be seeing growth in all the groups.
Last time I checked, every synchronized movement onstage is considered choreography. The dramatic leans in the second number were extremely effective- and yes, they are considered choreography. Not to mention, the last few numbers in Albertville's show had some intense Mike Weaver stuff.
I think they deserved everything they got 100 percent.
I've heard a lot of people say that what they did was not show choir. Really? In what restrictions does it say that show choir is 5 distinct songs performed by sparkly girls and suit-clad guys? They had the best choral show of the night, and performed a jaw-dropping show. That is what the heart of show choir is my friends.
