I know that this is true I was in. The room beside stage when the soloist kimberly smith was changing her dress would not zip down because it was broken so it was broken on the top and bottom. And they tried to pin it up and we couldn't so she went on stage sang her solo and came back off we pinned it up for the balad she went off after didn't do the girls number and changed into her closing costume she played it off like a true pro

But my best friend was there with Albertville CenSations! and she said that the female soloist(sorry but I'm not sure of her name) in their second song "Anything Goes" had a dress malfunction. Apparently she busted it or something backstage and came out to sing the entire song with it hanging off. Not sure if thats true but if it is that probably screwed them right there.

I do not agree with that. Things like that shouldn't affect result, in my opinion. She covered like a true professional. I was proud of her and I admire her because of how she handled herself despite her dress. Honestly, I never knew something was wrong until she left the stage during the dance break which I knew she normally danced. I give high props to her.

Petal's show was awesome this year! I wish I was there to see why in the world they didn't make finals. I know one of the towers fell but I definitely don't think that would have been enough to keep them out. But my best friend was there with Albertville CenSations! and she said that the female soloist(sorry but I'm not sure of her name) in their second song "Anything Goes" had a dress malfunction. Still, though, I think they should have been in finals over Northeast. Not to take anything away from Northeast. They do their show really well but it's just not that great of a show! Opelika, I'm so pleased to hear that you won. I was definitely rooting for you! Hope to see your balled on YouTube cause it is definitely one of my all-time faves! Congrats to everyone else on placements and awards!

I thought it was an OUTSTANDING competition. Everything was extremely organized and the facilities were amazing. I heard very little sound issues and the stage set-up was great. The only issue that I heard about was that there was a small hole in the stage floor that a few girls mentioned getting a heel stuck into once or twice, but other than that, I heard no complaints from anyone. Thank you West Jones show choir, crew, directors, and parents! Yesterday was great.

Ok I have a request, since I was working with loading and unloading of equipment all day and only heard like three or four groups, those who had the chance to hear most of the groups please give us some feedback on what you thought of the sound in the auditorium. The reason I am asking this is I am curious what other people thought and it being a new auditorium this is the first event of this kind. I will say the few groups that I had the chance to listen to I thought the sound was excellent.

Well, I thought that the sound was VERY good for a 1st time competition in it...I only heard one or two mic issues, but other that that...It was an amazing competition...;)....On another note, this was such a fun competition to attend! CenterStage! did not attend, but Censations did, and I was along to support ;)...It was kinda weird for me, seeing all the other southern choirs there competing, and I wasn't...but all the choirs did an exceptional (did I spell that right ;)?) job, and I want to say congrats to everyone! I was blown away by everyone, Opelika especially! I hope everyone had a safe ride home, and again, congrats to everyone!! ;)

Congrats to everyone... especially OPELIKA!!! Way to go guys.

One more competition (FAME Washington, DC) and we can make this season something VERY special. It's already been an amazing ride.

Congrats to Opelika!!! Let It Be was the best ballad I've seen this entire season. It was absolutely beautiful, and even more in finals because of the emtion.

OK, so I'm very disappointed that things haven't worked out for me to see Opelika this year, so would some nice person care to upload their show to youtube???

Congratulations to the "Ovations"! I am so excited for yall!

So I definitely thought that was the best Petal has done all year. Granted, that was NEJ's best too. But no Petal? Hmm..

I'm going to have to disagree on this one. Granted, I do think they should've been in Finals, it wasn't nearly as good a performance as I've seen from them earlier this year (not even including the tower malfunction).

It was indeed a crazy night all-around. Will likely post more thoughts on Finals groups (+ Petal) tomorrow; too late tonight for all that.

Congrats to Opelika "Ovations" on a well-deserved Grand Championship!

I thought it was completely unfair that Petal did not make finals. I do believe the main cause of them not making it was the tower falling, but that was not the choir's fault and everyone on stage did an AMAZING job at covering. No one, even the ones completely mauled by the falling tower, never missed a beat. Petal, I, as well as many many others, still think you guys were the best group there, no matter what the results were.

Boo for technichal difficulties!
