I have seen all of these groups perform other than the fairfield girl group!!! And may I say that this is horrible!!! After learning what we have about Mitchell Finke, I'm wondering the validity of these results now!!! Twinsburg has one of there best shows in years and they finish 5th and lose to a Mitchell Finke group that is rebuilding in Hurricane?? Come on, (Twinsburg) their dancing is ridiculous again this year, and this is one of their best vocal years to date!!!
I now look at these results in a different light.... The top 3 should have been...
1. Fairfield or Twinsburg
2. Fairfield or Twinsburg
3. Garfield
And 4-6 could have gone anyway!!!
Anyone with a right mind knows that this assesment is correct!!! If you don't think it is, you obviously don't know show choir in the midwest!!!
Garfield and Twinsburg were tied but Garfield had the better vocal score so that broke the tie. Edgwood beat them by .5 of a point. Hurricane beat Edgewood by 3 points i think. So the scores were very close between the four groups.
I'm really glad everyone enjoyed our competition. I know all our group really enjoyed putting it on. And it's awesome to know everyone else liked everything as well.

Yes, we use a synthesizer with a sequencer in our show. We have done so for at least eleven years and truly enjoy the way it enhances our combo. We also have seven horns, a drummer, two keyboard players, and a guitarist who are wonderful musicians. We like the way it sounds. It is a fun learning experience for our students. It is no surprise to us that some agree with our philosophy and some disagree. There is also much debate about the use of professional adult musicians in high school combos, as well. Open a thread and debate the issue intelligently. To each his own. If your contest prohibits synthesizers, we shall enter another one. No harm, no foul. Not one time in the twenty years I have directed at Twinsburg have we ever received a single penalty for any rule infraction.
As for Lebanon - I received a call from the contest director immediately following our preliminary show. There had been a complaint about our synthesizer and they wanted to follow up. I explained that we do use a sequencer to augment our live combo. After three of the contest "officials" debated, they called me back to say they did not believe the sequencer qualified as "taped" accompaniment and that there would be no penalty to the group or to the combo. They also stated that they felt their rules needed to be addressed to avoid any vagueness for following years. I offered to give them copies of rules from some of the competitions we have attended and from the one we host. They stated that they were grateful for the information. At the daytime awards ceremony, we were given the highest combo score by the specialty adjudicator and presented the most outstanding combo trophy by the contest.
In the finals performance (contrary to the "information" provided by the Lebanon student above), we lost power. I'm not sure exactly what happened, but the outlets on stage were about seven feet off the floor on the backstage wall - gravity works against a cord/plug and sometimes jars it loose. I was also juggling the fallout from a large fan the Lebanon stage crew had place on stage left which was blowing our costumes changes off the racks! Anyway, we had to stop between our first and second numbers to reboot our keyboards, as they are used in the intro to the second number. Our students handled the situation with grace and professionalism. The show went on as soon as it could. I have adjudicated many choirs who have lost power or had an emergency situation on stage that warranted stopping the show momentarily. It happens. We actually found it quite symbolic that it happened after our rendition of "Sound Of Silence" and when our students backs were turned to the audience...just a "happy accident". Twinsburg has NEVER used an iPod on stage. Your information is 100% false.
I do not know if there was a penalty assessed. I have not seen the final scores.
As for our decision to leave the competition following our finals performance, I will be brief and tactful. There were several administrative decisions made throughout the course of the day which led us to believe there was not a true level of courtesy and respect for all performing groups involved. Our team of directors was vocal in our dissent, as we stood up for what we believed was the best interest of kids. I will not elaborate here, even if asked, as I do not feel it is professional to the people of Lebanon, the other finalists, or my own students. This, in combination with an extremely derogatory written comment made by an adjudicator to a member from another choir, led us to a group consensus that we would perform for our families and friends and not for a trophy or placement. We cleaned our homeroom, performed, said "thank you" and "goodbye" to the contest official, and went to our hotel to celebrate our seniors. It was already way past midnight, and we had been on the road since 4:00 a.m. We did not "walk out of the awards ceremony". We chose not to attend.
If you do not agree with our decision, it is your prerogative. Being disrespectful or untruthful is another matter. Every student at the competition deserves congratulations and every group who placed in the finals should be proud. I have noticed that several posts here have either been edited by their makers or deleted by the site moderators. It is with sincere intent that I respectfully request you leave mine alone.

Thank You To Twinsburg's director for providing the whole story. It is greatly appreciated. All of us were told different things by different people in authority. It is nice to know the truth.
I think that Lebanon did a very good job with yesterday's competition. When you consider that it was their first one, they are to be congratulated for a job well done. Everyone that I ran into yesterday was extremely friendly, and I'm not just talking about the people from Lebanon. People from the competing schools were all very friendly and gracious. And that is the way it is supposed to be. That is what it really is all about. We are all a part of something very special.
I am just a show choir dad. It is alot of work, but it is some of the most rewarding work that anyone could ever do. I've been a show choir dad for almost 10 years now. I feel very blessed and fortunate to have been able to build some strong friendships with parents from other schools that we have competed against in the past.
Yes, sometimes there is some drama, but there will always be some drama, somewhere. It just happens.

This was by far he best competition of the year. It had everything: underdogs prevailing, drama, malfunctions, good food, awesome groups, and everything else you could think of. I couldn't pick a different competition to end my career on.

twinsburg had a HUGE pause inbetween their 1st and 2nd song.
apparently their ipod stopped working / therefore they had no band.
our rules state you can't use a recording- all music has to be played by high school musicians.
but instead of being disqualified, we deducted them
THATS why they placed so low.
if you knew this in daytime, then WHY did they get best combo? fairfield's combo totally deserved that caption. coming from a combo member himself from garfield.
Let's start with a director with two finalists thinking he has the ability to switch their performance times from their blind draw placement, receiving a 45 minute preparation extension when called on it, and then having private conversations with a judge following their performance in the finals.
