Not to be mean or anything like that at all, but what is the festival division for? Is it for those shows who can't really cut it with the regular competitors???
No. But the choir has to fit into certain categories. Such as, younger than two years or less than I think it was 30 members.
I know from experience that usually the first and second places in Festival Class could certainly compete with the bigger choirs. We do it all the time.

Olentangy - Who is your lead trumpet? He was really good! My wife and I (both trumpet players) came away quite impressed. But the combo for you guys was rockin' pretty good yesterday, especially during those dance breaks. Great work.
His name is Greg Taylor. He'll be very happy to hear your comments.
Hurricane - Were you missing a trumpet player yesterday? I didn't really notice it in prelims, but in finals, I was definitely not hearing a trumpet...
WVU had honor band this past weekend, there were a few students from Hurricane...so they might have been.

Findlay - I always enjoy the Boingers, but I felt like your trumpets were mega-flat yesterday. It wasn't noticeable all the time, but on sustained notes with the choir, it was really evident. Since this is the only time I saw Findlay this year, I'm not sure if this has been a problem, but I think the trumpets definitely need to push-in in future competitions. I know sometimes in competition, we try to pull-out because the combo tends to push sharp in hot auditoriums/gymnasiums, but there was definitely a need to tune a little better...

Twinsburg, Cuyahoga Falls, and the WVMEA State Competition...
They have a new director and choreographer this year (Mrs. Edwards retired at the end of last year), so it's been a lot of hard work to sort of zero back in to what they were in past years.
So it was a fun day and I'm so glad that I got to meet a lot of people.
Findlay- Loved the show! Coffee in a Cardboard cup was so entertaining. Your vocals really won it for you... they were amazing. I really liked the opener through the ballad but wasn't a fan of the second half. You guys are really awesome and I am proud that such a kind and professional group is representing Ohio Show Choir throughout the country.
Olentangy- So close. I really had no idea who was going to win. Your show was VERY entertaining. I thought that this was one of my favorite "semi-themed" shows that I have ever seen. It was so creative. Your show was clean and you vocals were awesome as well. Congrats and best of luck on the rest of the season.
Hurricane- I didn't see you before the classic but I can only imagine that you got a lot better since the last competition. You were very fun. Not a big fan on all the songs that were VERY well known and very stereotypical show choir but they were well done.
Van Buren- Much better than the last time I saw you in past years. I was so happy you made finals!
Lakeland- I think you did well but I wasn't a big fan of the show. You were undoubtedly finals deserving.
ARTS- Wow! Much better than last year. You guys have good things coming and in future years expect to consistently make finals at EVERY competition.
Some other things...
It was nice to meet some kids from FFE, especially Buddy who I CAN school in show choir trivia
I worked with Lynn Noble who was absolutely awesome. She really is an awesome judge and an awesome person to talk to.
From what I've heard, Hurricane's show may be changing quite a bit in the coming weeks...
But all in all, they definitely improved in the past couple weeks, and even since last weekend at Poca.
Congrats to all the finals groups, and especially Findlay and Olentangy. Both choirs had just phenomenal shows. Very good competition.
