Most of us in the Prairie's Band don't mind making people upset as long as the reason is a good one. I'm just being honest and calling them like we saw it!
Everyone at this competition knows that the best group did not win (except for the people of GCS because they don't want to admit someone else could be better). GCS won simply based on a hydraulic lift with flashing lights, a soundboard controlling band volume, and the fact that some of the judges were not very in depth show choir people. Everyone at this competition also knows that the best group did not finish second. The best group finished third. The show choir of Davenport West was clearly the best. When you strip away the hydraulic lifts, costume changes, and props, show choir boils down to having fun and getting the audience to have fun. Davenport West did this the best by far. When GCS was on stage the only people having fun was the folks from LaCrosse. When the Ambassadors were on stage the only folks having fun were the Cedar Rapidians. When Davenport was on stage, everyone had fun. Davenport West deserved to win that competition and we in the PHS band commend them on a job very well done.

Not that anyone is probably going to care but just throwing it out that Linn-Mar Excelsior Double Time won the Middle School Competition. It was very exciting as far as I know and my cousin who is in the group this is the first time they have won. Congrats to them and all other participating groups.
If you mean not received Grand Champion then that would have been at Monona Grove with I believe a 2RU behind Cedar Rapids' Prairie and Jefferson High Schools.
