Congrats to everyone. Plainfield had a rough week with little prac. and switching comps in an hour and half when southwestern was cancelled. But we had a fun day anyway congrats LC.

Order of finals is determined randomly by each choir director rolling dice.

How are Anderson and Bluffton going to 2 competitions tomorrow? They are scheduled for both Huntington and East Noble and their times are incredibly close?!

Anderson and Bluffton dropped out of Huntington's competition in order to attend East Noble.

Since my school isn't competing here; I thought it would safe to give my two cents on the whole competition, especially since Plainfield is going now.

So let's see, we have some pretty amazing groups going, and finals is going to come down to:
Lafayette Jeff, Carmel, LC, BD, Highland, Plainfield, and Homestead. If I had to make my honest prediction of Finals, it would go down like this:

4th Runner Up: Carmel; they're still pretty good visually; last week at North Central, though, there vocals were all over the place, but I am sure they kicked their butts this week to get into shape. The only problem I have with their show is the randomness of it all. I feel like all the songs are out of order when I watch...its just a little off-centre to me...shouldn't hurt the though.

3rd Runner Up: Lafayette Jeff; they're not as good as their previous years, although this year is better than most; however, the only reason they got last place last weekend was because of a disqualification, so they might just up a few spots than from my prediction.

2nd Runner Up: Highland; they're show is fun and energetic; they are clean visually and have pretty tight vocals; they are definitely a crowd favorite.

or it could go to:

Ben Davis; one of the best things about their show is their soloists; Brian Benson and Christina Humphrey can wail, and it always pulls the crowd straight in to their show. Their visuals are especially tight; its pretty certain they'll make finals, and when they place, I don't think it'll be any lower than 3rd place.

1st Runner Up: Lawrence Central; I know that, especially after last weekend, this group has really tried hard to kick it up a notch and get it together; their scores have been really inconsistent throughout this season; weird judging matters I'm sure. I think more than ever that if they can get their closer together and tighten that up, they'll place either second or take Grand Champion this weekend; and of course, no one is going to beat LC's National Award Winning Band...no matter who they are...its a waste of time to even try.

Grand Champion: Plainfield; they are really the dark horse of this competition. Their show isn't very complicated, but what they present and execute is very fine tuned and crisp. They have, by far, one of the best ballads of the season and have probably the strongest female section of any mixed choir competing (well, they should be it that there are like 30 women in their group). Aside from all this, they are the epitome of show choir and are definitely aching to win. They won't place lower than 1st runner up, and most likely will take GC this weekend.

BEST OF LUCK TO EVERYONE!
(This is only my observation; I think everyone is very good, and this competition is really up for grabs for the group who is willing to take it)

Our kids were scheduled to compete at Southwestern but it got cancelled due to weather, so they (Belles et Beaux/Plainfield) are headed to Huntington. Looking forward to being with all of you!

Hey - anyone know if the Laff Jeff girls are competing? Because they kicked our butts at Norwell. I thought that they didn't compete the second half of the season... but they're on the list. Well, it has some group from there under the Single-Gender division...

I don't know how mixed finals will play out. I heard that Carmel was really awesome. I don't know about Lawrence Central - we were at their competition but didn't stay for finals, so we didn't get to see them. And we were going to go to Ben Davis but we skipped it so we didn't get to see them either. Never heard of Highland, actually...

Yes, the womens' group is competing.
