I am going to take a stab at a prediction

GC: Urbandale "Studio 2007"
1st RU: Cedar Rapids "Momentum"
2nd RU: Johnston "Innovation"
3rd RU: Davenport Central "Central Singers Inc"
4th RU: Urbandale "Vitality"
5th RU: Benton Community "Celebration Co."

Captions are going to be a toss up. in my opinion, either a sweep or split up between Urby, Wash and Johnston.

I agree.

Based on the way Momentum has been improving, vocally in particular, I think they could make this competition very interesting.

Urbandale "Studio 2007"
Cedar Rapids Washington "Momentum"
Johnston "Innovation"
Davenport Central "Central Singers Inc."
Urbandale "Vitality"
Benton Community "Celebration Co."

Agreed.

I think that it might be between Urbandale and Johnston......We'll see with this up comming weekends result for Johnston and the rest but for Urbandale.

I think Dubuque Wahlert "Impulse" might have a good shot at finals. They have become a bit stronger as seasons go on.

It's called like the Olympic Standard(?) Scoring or something like that... I'll try to explain it some other time.

Well, if it is like the olympics, my guess would be that there will be scores in both daytime round and finals, with the highest and lowest thrown out, but again that's just a guess.

Maybe I can help...

We're using the consensus ordinal system. Basically, everyone is ranked and then the ranks are analyzed to produce the result most reflective of the judging panel. It prevents one judge from scewing a result. For example:

Assume a five judge panel and two schools with the following rankings:

School A 1 1 1 2 6
School B 2 2 2 1 2

Under a traditional ranking system, the ranks would be added, and School B would win 1st place, as school A's ranks add to 11 and school B's ranks add to only 9. Under our system, we would rank school A in first place, as the majority of the panel judged school A to be the winner.

Also to clarify...all finalists groups select their performance order. Selection is done based on the results from the Preliminary round. The winner picks 1st, 2nd place picks 2nd, etc...

Also, the schedule posted above is not quite accurate. The accurate schedule can be found at:
http://www.kennedyvocalmusic.com/kennedy_invitational

Thanks for your interest in out competition! Looks to be another great day!

I forget exactly, but I remember Mr. Ziegler saying something about it on the old thread (where did that go anyway?). I think it's something like a hybrid scoring system. Maybe Mr. Temple can tell us. Also, I would have to imagine that 2nd place would have their choice out of the remaining 5 spots, and so on, but I have only heard about the daytime winner.

Just out of curiosity - what is the new scoring system?

I haven't decided if I'll make the trip out yet or not. 3 weekends in a row might be a bit much!

Not as bad a Jorge, I swear he is going to a competition every weekend.
I think the only date I really haven't seen is the 3rd.

I thought Ankeny was going as well... Anyway - what is the correct web site for CR Kennedy? The only one I knew of has since expired (jfkvocalmusic.org).

Ankeny is going to Big Dance this year.
