Also... To add a bit of drama. Hastings wasn't even supposed to be finals. Their scores didn't make it in, but judges talked to Dr. Kreitzer and told him that they thought perhaps they had judged Hastings too harshly. That was a year where Cedar Rapids Washington had placed 7th, right outside of finals a few times... so they added a 7th 4A group to finals.
Has that ever happened before, or does anybody think it will ever happen again?

Well I'm just saying, after adding up the totals from the judges who judged night rounds, their placings were different from the ones they had in day round, so that's why I said that you can't blame the extra judges on this one. I don't have those placings with me right now, they are in Cedar Rapids. But if you would me to show you at Jefferson I would be happy too. I also have the scores from 2001, 2005, and 2006 so I can show you that it is a common occurance.
I get what you are saying...
I guess I just disagree with some of the judges then.

Therefore, I would say that the changes in placings from day to night did not occur because of the addition of judges, but rather from the changes of performances from all the groups.
MY first year of Mo Show, and let me tell you...
I fell in love with Hastings that year.
And I still rememeber Onalaskas ballad, and everyone taking out their cell phones and waving them around.
And one group (maybe Ona?) doing three claps and then a "burst of sunshine" haha.
I remember Onalaska's ballad too... but I was confused to see them win. Davenport North gave SO much energy, and Onalaska's show just seemed dead in that department.
I also remember Hastings show... it was great.
Linn Mar's creep show that year really looked good at Mo Show. I actually enjoyed it, especially Vienna!
West's flag broke in day round, but it worked at night!

well.... thats not exactly what happened. Judges did talk to DK after day round, but the decision was made solely on that, not based on Momentum getting 7th twice that year. Also, I would like to point out that when looking at the individual judging at Mo-Show every year, the judges who judged in the gym earlier for the day round placed everyone differently than they did in day round. Therefore, I would say that the changes in placings from day to night did not occur because of the addition of judges, but rather from the changes of performances from all the groups.

WOW...I would be SO ticked off if I was Davenport Central...but I bet Hastings was celebrating their 8th place to 4th place jump...and Linn Mar was probably pretty happy too. I guess I haven't been to a comp this year where drastic changes have occured like that.....it's kinda scary....

The high/low being taken out might not effect a lot... but the additional 200 judges do! Jay just failed to inform all.
2004 day round results...
1st- Davenport North
2nd- Onalaska
3rd- Davenport Central
4th- Davenport West
5th- Linn Mar
6th- Milton
7th- Anamosa
8th- Hastings
Night round ended up-
GC- Onalaska
1st RU- Davenport North
2nd RU- Linn Mar
3rd RU- Hastings
4th RU- Milton
5th RU- Davenport West
6th RU- Davenport Central
7th RU- Anamosa
Now that's a change.

OK.... BLAH I meant the placings stay the same between taking the high and low scores out and not taking them out since CJ was interested in that part of the judging.
Mo-Show 2004- Hastings was in 3rd and Linn-Mar 4th before taking the hi-lo. They switched
Mo-Show 2005- Kennedy was in 4th and Linn-Mar 5th before taking the hi-lo. They switched
Mo-Show 2006- Linn-Mar was in 2nd and Onalaska 3rd before taking the hi-lo. They switched.
Thats what I was talking about. duh! lol
It may not switch that much, but I can see how much of a difference it could make. I can't wait to see what happens

I saw a little bit ago someone was asking about JV groups and which ones will place in whatever order.. I haven't seen many of the small schools or the jvs but New Sound from my school Sioux City East has started off doing well. They got 3rd place overall at Okoboji. It wasn't the biggest competition but they beat Sioux Falls Washington's Classic Connection (their varsity). This is going to be a great competition and everyone from East is very very pumped about it! Good luck to every group that is going!
