Wow, I just scrolled up...and they did...did Dover make finals though?
Solon
Euclid
Garfield
Dover
Cuyahoga Falls
Brush
^^ were the groups that made finals. Now .. I will talk about their shows.
Dover - I didn't see you guys, but you guys were incredibly supportive of all the other choirs, and that's really cool. Good job, I heard you have a great show this year and have improved a lot.
Garfield - Your combo was amazing ... simply amazing, I loved them, and they were self directed - so that's always fun. And the Jamacian rap -- that was good, haha. You guys have improved since last year -- nicely done.
Brush - You guys have probably improved the most out of all the show choirs in the world. If people could just see last years show, then this years show. Reiko, is doing really well as your new director (it's cool that you got her), and pretty much saved Soundsational. Wow. I'm always amazed by the opening measure in your Opener, the a capella part, and I got blasted with it, because during preliminaries I was sitting in the front row watching you guys. You guys had really powerful vocals, and fast and cool choroegraphy - go Tara. And I thought you guys deserved major props for preforming, right after what had happened to your set, that must have been stressful -- any show choir's nightmare.
Solon - Wow. Really good guy feature -- I loved the choreography, and your male vocals. Then your ballad ... wow it's definitely one of the best ballad's I've ever heard. I don't even remember what it was called, but it was amazing, and that last chord -- ahh, orgasmic. I loved your set -- it was pretty and purple, and you guys did so good, and have come a long way since last year.
Cuyahoga Falls - I really wish I woulda saw your show. Maybe next week tho, at Brush *grins*.
Anyway, Mentor was a great competition. Very fun. Good hosts. Amazing facilities. Awesome crowds (the standing ovations were ... amazing, what a rush). And overall greeeeeeeeeeeeeeat.
Everyone had great shows, there is some amazing talent in Ohio this year, and all the big powerhouses need to watch out for us.
Wow, sounds like it was a big bloodbath at Mentor. I'm sure all those powerhouses that were over at Onalaska today are scared to death.
lol. I wrote that late, and I just realized how bizarrely horrible the post I made was. What I meant to say is -- groups that used to suck, now no longer suck, and are going to be finals-making groups at bigger competitions. Mentor was an easy competition, seeing there were no Twinsburgs, Marysvilles, Piquas, and so on ... and what I meant to say was, that the choirs at Mentor could be in finals with those choirs at competitions, and challenge for their spots/places. There were so many suprises. I was incredibly impressed. It was a great competition, besides the wacky judges ... but it's cool. lol.

Yes. Yes they are.
Yuri, before you get flamed for your "judges screwed us" comments, I'll throw in my agreement . Yea, the judges were kinda wacky. I can't believe they marked you off for non-typical costumes. We got marked off last year because our whole show wasn't "typical Show Choir."
The vocal judge, for one, didn't say one word except "diction" the whole time, even though our director found tons of things wrong that we could fix before the finals. We rushed our opener like nobody's business, and he didn't say a word.
Your prelims aren't exactly correct. I know we were 3rd (2 points behind you) and G. Heights was 4th (less than one point behind.) Talk about close Theen I think it was Brush and then Dover. Dover was shaky during prelims but they ROCKED at finals!
Oh, what happened to Brush's trumpet? We didn't see it since we were backstage. And how funny was it when we sent our guy onstage to be reckognized and he got confused and tried to take the 5th RU trophy. Good times...
Congratulations, Cuyahoga Falls. I'm happy for you guys. Everyone had great shows, there is some amazing talent in Ohio this year, and all the big powerhouses need to watch out for us.
Solon - Wow, your ballad was amazing. Well deserved best vocals. Such an improvement, I know that this is simply the best you've ever been. Pretty set. Overall great show -- you can totally challenge the bigger groups.
Brush - Wow ... your set - that must have been stressful (in case anyone was wondering, their set fell and toppled over all the combo members -- except one of the transitions was to have the combo play this stomp act type thing, and in doing so ... none of them, were behind the set at the time it fell -- now that's a godsent message).
Now to shed some light on what happened tonight. Cuyahoga Falls -- I didn't see you guys, but you must have rocked to get GC.
Let's see tho.
Preliminary results
1. Solon
2. Euclid (behind Solon by 4 points)
3. Dover (behind Euclid by 8 points)
4. Garfield (behind Dover by 1 point)
5. Cuyahoga Falls (behind Garfield by 4 points)
6. Brush (behind Cuyahoga by 2 points)
from what I remember, that's how points went.
When it came to captions, Garfield clear out won Best Combo (self directed .. it was great), Solon won Best Show Design (and we were 1 point away from this), then they won Best Vocals (which we were 2 points away from), and then we won Best Choreography.
Honestly us (Euclid) went into finals thinking we had a huge chance at getting Grand Champions - we weren't that far behind Solon, and the groups behind us were pretty far away from us, and one of the judges marked off around 8 points, because they didn't like our theme, and the pop-ness of it, and they said it was unoriginal and lacked variety. But honestly, our closer is You Said, You Said -- since when has anyone ever done, or heard a Jermaine Jackson song ... lol, we did a Jackson family show, Jermaine Jackson is pretty original for that, I think. We got slammed at because our uniforms weren't the typical or traditional type. So we were thinking, with those loss of points for stupid stuff, we could pull up our show and get GC. When we got called for 2nd runner up, we were extremely dissapointed, and shocked - and felt shafted. But there was a reason for that. The finals at Mentor weren't scored. The judges simply sat back, and then decided which groups they liked best, and put them in order -- if there were points or explanations on what we did wrong, we would have been happy ... but it just - didn't make sense. But ... that's probably really horrible to say, and makes us look really bad - but, we just expected more, and our finals preformance wasn't as good as our preliminaries. But hey, 3rd place, and Best Choreography isn't bad at all, but just so Solon and Cuyahoga Falls know -- it's on at Brush. Euclid's coming back and hunting you guys down *wink*
Oh and also -- Mentor kids rock, they're some of the coolest people ever. And they have a great show. I love you guys!
Everyone was fantastic! The M's are still in shock. That was the first GC in 3 years, and the first time making nights in 2. Great chanting/dancing/beach-ball throwing to everyone too.
Brush- we were just getting into the equipment room when we heard about your set. I freaked out I'm sooo glad everyone was ok.
I loved everyone's shows! They were so fun and original! I can't wait to see everyone again at Brush next week.
Wow, everyone was freaking incredible. That's all I can say now... I'm so dead tired. I'll get on tomorrow afternoon and write more/talk to anyone who might be on
Yeah, *cries* this is my first competition ever, being a freshman and all ... ahh, I'll be leaving now. Good luck to all. Have fun, and expect full reviews of everyone's show when I get back. Ahh. I love show choir, I can't believe our first competition is today ... man, time flies when you're in show choir.
omg yuri, you've nvr competed except for jvc. no matter how bad u feel or mad u r, when they introduce u, and open the curtain, all that disappears, and u get an adrenaline rush, and you do the best you've ever done. that has happened 2 me so many times last yr. it is sooooo much fun.
Camps and concerts and in your case last yr. watching, is not on the same level. I get the bg's just writing this
well hopefully, we can win 4 class AA, and be in the top 3. I honestly won't be mad with 1st or 2nd runner up, but i will ball if we get GC because of all the hard work we've done.
Well good luck to all u other choirs, and u all go and shine 4 the 25 minutes they give us, and 4 some ppl 25 minutes times 2
I wish we all could be in finals, but we can't so we'll see at 5:00 pm TODAY!!!!!

Doors to finals open at 6:30. I can't wait to see you all. To distinguish me -- I'm the short boy on the floor a lot, who does the backflip during the guy feature. Can't wait til' tomorrow. Euclid's preforming at 2, so unless we make finals, no on here will really be seeing us .
