Again, mostly guesses of some research on past comps and such and on who I’ve seen so far. So excited for this comp, and good luck to all groups competing!!
i think you are spot-on with your predictions. Jasper HS has the advantage. From seeing videos of their past performance. I do think Sumrall will come in third place. Over Albertville.
good luck to everyone competing!
I don’t believe Homewood has a livestream, at least not an official one. I’ll be at the contest, but I won’t be in the auditorium for Petal’s performance in prelims (likely missing Auburn too). I believe Bradley Davis is going to this contest… he’s probably your best bet for a live stream.
All of that being said, live streams are becoming more common, and I would expect this competition to have one at some point. Is that this year? Maybe, maybe not.
I’ll in fact be there throughout the day and will livestream everything unless my connection is poor or the people at Homewood ask me not to for any reason. I livestream through Instagram @thebradleydavis
GC- Petal "Soundsations" (Vocals, Overall effect)
1st ru- Oak Mountain "Singers" (Choreography)
2nd ru- Jackson Academy "Encore"
3rd ru- Auburn "Varsity Singers"
4th ru- Glenwood "Titan Fever"
That last finals spot is a toss-up between Glenwood, Northwest Rankin, and Jackson Prep (and possibly even one of the single-gender groups like Petal, Auburn, or Oak Mountain). I hate to think that Glenwood may come all the way here from Illinois and not make finals, but it's a possibility. All of these Southern groups here are super strong, and Glenwood will really have to fight to get into finals. Very interested to see what happens.
Glenwood out of finals is a possibility, but it’s not a likelihood. There have been a few head-to-head matchups between Auburn and Glenwood at SCN, and Glenwood has always beaten them.
We’ll get a true test of how strong Auburn is this weekend with a rematch against Homewood. Granted, this is the best Homewood group I’ve ever seen, if Auburn here’s swept at Opelika, then you may be correct about JA beating Auburn, but Glenwood would also likely beat them. If Auburn beats Homewood, then it would be plausible for Auburn to beat not only Glenwood, but possibly JA and Oak Mountain as well.

This competition could go several ways and this was super hard to predict! Going to be a good one!
I'm sure these groups are extremely glad David Fehr is judging here instead of bringing his group to compete here lol. It is interesting to not see Attaché on the schedule since they competed here so many years in a row.. not sure why they've stopped attending.
Tbh I’m not entirely sure either. Like, Oak Mountain is really strong, but do they get a time penalty in prelims that’s bad enough to knock them out of finals? I don’t remember if there’s a time penalty in finals, but I don’t believe there is. They can certainly set up their lights in time, but all of the TVs and giant risers on Homewood’s stage is just asking for trouble unless they remodeled the door going to the stage to be more than six feet tall.
Should Oak Mountain navigate those obstacles without incurring a time penalty, they are definitely the favorites here, but otherwise would need to beat everyone by an extra thirty or so points just to place.
