I’m gonna post scores because I’m guessing a lot of people are pretty interested in how things turned out how they did! I’ll be posting raw scores and ranks, but not matchups because, quite frankly, I’m still not sure I fully understand condorcet scoring yet, but I do know it’s Carmen’s new default method and it’s pretty foolproof in terms of eliminating bias! Judges will stay the same vertically. For this first post, I’m gonna do entirely raw scores cause it’s a LOT of info, and ranks will be in the next one.

RAW SCORES

Overall

Beavercreek: 225, 226, 227, 223, 221.5 | 1122.5 Total
Solon: 236.5, 218, 219, 213, 222 | 1108.5 Total
Loveland: 235, 233.5, 219, 221.5, 217 | 1126 Total
ETC: 235, 215.5, 209.5, 219, 225 | 1104 Total
Chesterton: 228, 214, 208, 220, 221.5 | 1091.5 Total
Olentangy: 204, 213.5, 207, 209, 216.5 | 1050 Total

I’m pretty sure I understand condorcet scoring now but correct me if I’m wrong. Like Kaitlin said earlier, it simulates every matchup possible between two groups. The victors of the matchups are determined by the judges’ ranks. Whichever group has the majority of judges put them ahead of the other group gets a point. Let’s take Solon and Loveland for example. At this point Solon and Loveland had won all the previous “matchups” simulated so this was pretty crucial. Even though Loveland had a higher score and better ranks, 3 of the 5 judges had Solon ahead of Loveland, so Solon got the point for that matchup and ended up with one point more than Loveland. Hopefully that made sense, otherwise you can go to the link Patrick provided! I also agree with Kyle, this method does a great job with evening out outlier scores and ranks!

This is a great TL;DR, Brock! Glad to see you and others are understanding the concept! If there are any other questions, check out that link under the other comment or feel free to contact me and I'll try and explain them as best as I can.

One reply for accuracy, Solon's total should be 1112 total, right? I only know because I put all of this in Excel to practice understanding the Condorcet method. Thanks for this info! So helpful to better understand

Patrick, just clarifying. Does Condorcet use raw scores rather than rank to check the matchups of A vs. B, A vs. C and so forth?

In reply for your first comment if you're looking at the raw scores above. Kyle mistyped Solon's last two scores as Loveland's last two scores. Solon's 5 scores were 236.5 | 218 | 219 | 213 | 222 totaling up to 1108.5.

In regards to your second, Condorcet is just the method used to declare placements now. Carmen allows the school to choose what they want to do. So they can choose to use raw scores, weighted scores, or borda count (rank). Marysville used borda count to check Condorcet.

EDIT: Okay wait, let me reword that. The matchup asks on a per-judge basis who beats who. Not overall. You can look at the ranks/weighted scores from Marysville and they would show the same order.

Overall rankings of the top 6 groups:
Olentangy: 10, 7, 6, 6, 6
Chesterton: 4, 6, 5, 3, 3
ETC: 3, 5, 4, 4, 1
Loveland: 2, 1, 3, 2, 5
Solon: 1, 4, 2, 5, 4
Beavercreek: 5, 2, 1, 1, 2
Rankings weren’t used to decide placements but this is all that I was given. I was told a scoring method called “Condorcet Scoring” was used to decide placements but I don’t know how it works. Perhaps someone familiar with the scoring method would like to explain!

I believe the system was based on “match ups” amount all the groups. So it would be like Beavercreek vs Solon and Beavercreek ended up winning it. In this case...
Beavercreek: 18 matchups
Solon: 17 matchups
Loveland: 16 matchups
ETC: 15 matchups
Not quite sure about Chesterton and Olentangy. It seems weird, and correct me if I’m wrong, but I think that’s how it went.
