Not to step on any toes, but one of the judges in tier ll was Columbia City’s director (who competed today) until 2016. That kinda falls under the “too soon” category. Are there not ISSMA regulations preventing this from happening?
No, out of state choirs are more than welcome at ISSMA regulated competitions. ISSMA competitions are like any other completion, they just have a different judges sheet made by ISSMA and they have rules and regulations that ISSMA enforces to keep the competitions fair. The only real purpose of ISSMA competitions is for groups who would like to qualify for state to go to in order to qualify.
I completely disagree, some of the best groups in the nation come to Indiana just compete against other great groups. Just because ISSMA has a certain score sheet at only a few competitions, it is still always the judges decision who wins and ISSMA has no say in that.
I don’t think that is fair to say, considering loveland just beat two premier Indiana groups at fishers. And to go along with that two Ohio groups placed over Indiana groups for GC and 1RU at this competition alone.
Just to clarify for record-keeping purposes, Busco and Homestead tied for 3rd Runner Up according to ISSMA. Since Busco had a better Vocal Score than us, we gave them the 3rd Runner Up trophy. Hope that helps and makes sense. Thanks, Haakon!
