I don't know where Capitol Harmony fits into overall placements as they could theoretically be beating open groups, but open prelims placement represents those four groups' scores in relation to each other.
South Dakota is getting several new groups this year! Since the State Activities Association added a State Competition we are seeing several new groups pop up.
Dakota Valley is a HS in South Dakota just north of Sioux City.
Harrisburg has had middle school show choir for a few years now and is jumping in to the HS level now.
SBAT is from Lennox HS in SD - new to the competitive scene, but has been around for a while in home performances, etc.

There seems to be a Dakota Valley HS in North Sioux City which has a show choir and I'm assuming it's them, although it seems there's also a middle school district group out of Minnesota with the same name. Googling "S B.A.T. Squad" just came up with things about real bats, which wasn't helpful. And Harrisburg has a couple middle school choirs I'm aware of, but wasn't sure if this was their high school or what.
So at this comp is it only top tier groups that can make finals?
In MN we just have the top 6 scoring groups even if it is a prep so i am just curious on how it works here!!
In 2015, a prep group made finals here, so I don't see why that would've changed!
