Band is part of the score here if I remember correctly, but I do not remember a caption award for best band. If they do give it out, I'll predict it for Clover Hill. This competition will probably be as close as it was last year between Homewood and Wheaton in either direction (about six points difference I do believe).
GC- Clover Hill (BV, BC)
1RU- Homewood (OE, band)
Just as a heads up, Clover Hill's band is incredible. They have rarely lost that caption in the past couple years and went undefeated last year in that category against stiff competition. It'll be a treat for Southerners to not only see Clover Hill, but to also hear their band.
I think this is sort of a moot point regardless, Southern competitions don't usually award Best Band.
It wasn't a clean sweep considering that they tied with Albertville "Censations" for Show Design. Aside from that, I feel confident in predicting BV to go to Homewood after hearing about their vocal score in prelims at Tallassee.
Predictions:
GC: Homewood (BV, OE, solo)
1RU: Clover Hill (BC)
2RU: Bradley Central
3RU: Tift County
4RU: DCA
5RU: Enterprise/women's division champ
I've always loved Albertville; been competing there since their second year running a competition. The campus is lovely, the host choir is great, and it has an overall good atmosphere!
As for the competition itself, this should be a fun year. Homewood and Clover Hill will make finals. Donalson has a good chance since they made it last year. Homewood Girls will probably be in finals too-- 2nd in the Women's Division at Tallassee looks pretty impressive. I don't know the other groups well enough to give insightful predictions, so those last two spots could be anyone and I wouldn't be surprised. Of course, I hope my choir makes it, but I don't want to be that guy and say we'll definitely be there.
Like I said, this is gonna be a fun year, and I can't wait to see it!
Edit: Completely forgot about Tift County and their clean sweep of Tallassee Small Mixed. I wouldn't be surprised if they made finals.
Thanks for the schedule! Looks like an exciting one. And it looks like this could be quite the late night if things don't run on time...
The times are later than normal, but we had so many choirs who wanted to attend which is great! We even have a local high school group performing Friday night to try to save some time for Saturday.
Should be interesting with two large mixed groups from Homewood in addition to Clover Hill and Tift County. Also, for the Homewood groups, is it Associate then Network or the other way around?
