Show Choir Community Arrangers John Burlace
John Burlace earned his Bachelor of Music in Vocal Music Education from Millikin University (Decatur, IL) and his Master of Science in Education from Northern Illinois University (DeKalb, IL). He has been on the choral faculty at Carmel High School since the Fall of 2014. Prior to moving to Carmel, John spent 12 years teaching at both Wheaton Warrenville South High School and Edison Middle School (Wheaton, IL), where he was the proud director of “The Classics”, “Esprit”, and “Electric Youth” show choirs among many other ensembles. His competitive ensembles have been consistently recognized for excellence in vocal production, choreography, instrumental performance and show design. While under his direction, John’s groups have performed for national industrial shows and appeared on ABC’s Windy City Live with GLEE star Jane Lynch. As an active arranger, adjudicator, and guest conductor, he has worked with choirs in 14 states and maintains a busy schedule as a show choir clinician across the country. John is a former Show Choir Repertoire & Standards Co-chair for the Illinois ACDA and has served on staff of several summer camps including Showchoir Camps of America, The Southern Experience Show Choir Camp (University of Southern Mississippi), and Nebraska Show Choir Camp (University of Nebraska). He and his wife Ana enjoy traveling, Disney, and Starbucks.
