Kevin Hardy earned a B.A. in music education from Marshall University and a Masters of Music degree from the University of Tennessee. He has been teaching music for 25 years since, beginning as an elementary school teacher for 12 years in Logan and Boone counties. He spent 10 years teaching junior high and middle school at Dunbar Middle School, where his show choir won numerous awards including 4 State Championships. The last 3 years he has been teaching vocal music at Riverside High School in Kanawha County. While at RHS he has made a very strong impact on the musical arts program, including introducing and hosting the school's annual show choir competition festival.
While in college Kevin performed in the Merry Wives of Windsor (as Dr. Caius), The Marriage of Figaro (as Count Almaviva) and Die Fledermaus (as Dr. Falke) at the University of Tennessee. He has continued performing with local arts groups such as the Charleston Light Opera Guild. This season he performed in the The Color Purple (Preacher and Chief), previously he has appeared (as Coalhouse Walker) in Ragtime, (as Herald) in Cinderella, and (as C. C.) in Dreamgirls. He has also performed with Kanawha Players (as Walter Lee, Jr.) in A Raisin in the Sun.
Kevin has been married to his wife Renee for 22 years and has two children (Caleb and Joshua), and a toy poodle named Hope.
