I booked it back from a speech competition to come watch my friends perform in night show and was not disappointed. SO WORTH THE TRIP. I managed to catch Anderson Girls and all 5 Mixed Finalists. (ALSO the event staff were some of the kindest I have ever met. Thank you so much!)
Anderson Girls: You made me so happy as a girls choir member. The surprise at the end of the ballad made my entire day. I absolutely approved and was probably the person hideously laughing for about a solid minute in the audience. You absolutely earned GC. Congratulations!
Columbia City Mixed: Loved the opener. Loved the show concept. And that Centuries soloist? WOW
Churubusco Mixed: My favorite part of the year is seeing what you guys bring to the table, since every year has been a new and interesting show. You guys definitely lived up to that! Also can I say that your ballad is one of my favorites of the day?
Anderson Mixed: I loved the entire "colors" show! Especially the idea of starting with Black and White and ending with a rainbow kind of idea. (I'm not crazy right, this was the idea?). The closer soloist had me in awe. Props to you dude.
Northrop Mixed: Gets better every time I see it. You guys make me feel like a little kid watching Peter Pan again whenever I see this show. Can't wait to see you all next weekend!
ETC Mixed: If you heard someone screaming "WERK" during your opener dance break, that was most likely me. Your energy is unmatched and your choreography always leaves me in awe. Also, whoever that blonde girl was in front and center during the opener, she was best performer in my heart. GIRL WORKED IT
Carroll MM: I don't have enough words to describe this show. The opening had me in tears. The stomp number had me in tears. The ballad had me in tears. I was probably crying during the closer too. My makeup was everywhere. You kids are some insane performers and have been given an incredible show. You guys will slay this year. Best of luck to you all.
First, the judging panel did more than surprise me with their results. My predictions after watching every group at finals were
GC: Northrop Charisma
1st RU: ETC All Americans
2nd RU: Anderson Vocal Infusion
3rd RU: Churubusco New Era
4th RU: Columbia City City Heat
I still believe those are the fair rankings in my personal opinion but congratulations to all groups, especially ETC and Northrop, who I felt really left it all on the stage.
Also, Minstrel Magic had an amazing show! It was very well performed and I'm proud to have been a Charger. Although, I do feel that it was too much "show" and not enough "choir." The lights, props, and voice overs were a bit distracting, the only part I felt was really "show choir" was during the exceptional accapella ballad and opening. The rest of it was more of a musical really, and I also would've liked to see more dancing. But it really was an amazing show with an excellent story.
Overall, it was a great night of show choir being so early in the season. Congrats to every great performance and I wish best of luck to everyone this season!
