Kris is a teacher, singer, composer, and keyboardist. He holds an A.A. degree in vocal performance, a B.A. in choral music education, and an M.M. in choral conducting. As a performer, Mr. Ornelas has experience singing a broad range of musical styles, including pop, rock, classical, jazz, gospel, and musical theater. He has had the privilege of singing at venues such as the Hollywood Bowl, the Greek Theater, Carnegie Hall, and the Walt Disney Concert Hall, and has shared the stage with performers such as Josh Groban, Andrea Bocelli, the Who, Billy Idol, Debra Voigt, M83, and more.
Mr. Ornelas is currently the director of vocal music at Cleveland High School in Reseda, California, and under his direction, the choral ensembles have consistently earned top scores and superior ratings. In 2018, Mr. Ornelas was selected as LAUSD's Rookie Teacher of the Year. In addition to directing the vocal program at Cleveland High School, Mr. Ornelas is an adjunct music professor and voice instructor at College of the Canyons, and the worship director at Heart of the Canyons Church in Newhall, California.
