Duane Philgreen received his Bachelor of Music degree from Drake University with additional course work at The University of Iowa. He has served as president of the IHSMA Executive Committee as well as Section 4 representative for the National Federation (NFHS) Music Advisory Committee. Duane’s choral arrangements have been performed by many choirs, several of which at Regional ACDA Conventions. His choral composition, “It Couldn’t Be Done,” was the 2019 winner of the ICDA/ICF Choral Composition Competition.
Duane has over 30 years of Choral Music education experience and is currently Director of Choral Activities at West Delaware High School in Manchester. His comprehensive program includes four curricular choirs, extra-curricular show choir, numerous All-State choir members, and annual musical. Every year he prepares nearly 100 events for Solo/Small Ensemble Festival, where his groups consistently earn Division I ratings and Best of Center Awards. West Delaware students under his direction have been chosen to perform the National Anthem at over 90 State Tournament events. Duane and his wife Michelle are the proud directors of award winning WD Forté show choir. His greatest achievement has been raising 4 daughters and is excited to soon earn the title of grandpa!
