Show Choir Community Personnel Anne Chittenden
ANNE CHITTENDEN recently “retired” her Directing shoes after her seven-year run as the Director of the Des Moines Christian High School Show Choir Program and the Varsity group Light, Inc. During her leadership, she helped elevate the program from a 2A contender to a formidable force, capable of competing with the larger schools. Prior to this role, she served as the Assistant Director for Johnston's Varsity group Innovation, demonstrating her commitment to excellence in show choir direction.
She started her show choir work years ago as a choreographer, and has lent her show expertise to numerous schools across the Midwest. Her decades of experience and discerning judgment has also allowed her to serve as an adjudicator at various competitions around the region. She holds a degree in Communication with a minor in Vocal Performance from the University of Nebraska where she proudly was a founding member of the “Big Red Singers” show choir, which continues to thrive as one of the only colligate level show choirs in the nation. During her three-year tenure with the group, she played a vital role in helping establish the program, serving as the assistant director, choreographer, dance captain, show designer, and performer.
Beyond her passion for the arts, Anne leads a fulfilling professional life in the medical field. Recently, she accepted a new role as the Director of a surgery center in Ankeny, showcasing her diverse skill set. In her rare moments of free-time, Anne finds joy in home design and cherishes quality time with her rescue puppy, Gracie.
