Damon Brown is a freelance choreographer, songwriter and show designer out of Carmel, Indiana, and a graduate of Ball State University. Since 1983, Damon has worked with over 70,000 students across the USA, and into Canada, England and Switzerland. Among his former students are actresses Blake Lively, Dove Cameron and Seychelle Gabriel.
During his time as a choreographer, Damon’s groups have won well over 300 grand championships, and 400 best choreography/show design awards. He was recognized as an industry leader in the book “Sweat, Tears, and Jazz Hands”, and currently serves as a contributing choreographer with schools that include Burbank, Franklin Central, Zionsville, Cedar Rapids Kennedy, Los Alamitos, Purdue, and Onalaska.
Damon’s original music has been performed by more than 10,000 students, and is featured through Paper Jukebox, a publishing venture with arrangers Ted Arthur, Anita Cracauer and Steve Shanley. His latest venture comes through judging the Canadian National Show Choir Championships in Toronto, and starting a co-writing venture with England’s Rachel Walker.
Through his work and advocacy with Thirst Project (thirstproject.org), and beginning his Random Acts Of Kindness Initiatives, Damon is attempting to influence students to impact their world in positive and affirming ways, breaking down negative stereotypes of today’s teen population. More than 800 students have participated in the initiative’s first year, doing projects throughout their communities.
In addition to being a vocalist with Northview Church of Carmel, a huge Indianapolis Colts fan, and avid runner, the greatest joys of his life come from his marriage to wife, Jeanie, and his children!
