Anita started arranging music for her classmates when she was 16, as the accompanist for the JB Singers show choir at Kennedy High School in Bloomington, MN. A classically trained pianist, she got her degree in Music Education from the University of Minnesota School of Music before returning to Kennedy as a co-director. She continued arranging for the newly competitive varsity show choir Rhythm In Gold, and also founded the JV group East Side Swingers. In 2002, Anita decided to make the leap into full-time freelance arranging, starting with the contacts she had made at competitions in the Midwest, and quickly becoming nationally known. She later began publishing her arrangements by starting the online catalog now known as ShowChoirStock.com. In addition to her main gig as a publisher/arranger for choirs across the country, including Burbank California's nationally renowned show choir "In Sync", she enjoys teaching annual songwriting workshops for show choir students as well as giving in-person songwriting clinics. In her spare time, Anita enjoys performing in bands all over the Twin Cities -- she's been in several rock, funk, and pop bands over the last 30 years but currently plays keys in "J Train Jazz." She is married to her show choir sweetheart and her favorite choir kids are their two children, Avery and Axel.
Don't hesitate to reach out to Anita for a commissioned arrangement for your group! She LOVES to write original songs, and will also consider a request to add a copyrighted song to her catalog! You'll find all FAQ on her website at www.showchoirstock.com.
Anita chooses not to maintain a searchable database of her past freelance work on this platform. You can find her entire catalog of current publications at www.showchoirstock.com, or on jwpepper.com.
