There was an error in the scoring for the Single-Gender division

GC: Hurricane Heat Wave
1RU: ETC Rouge
2RU: Fairfield Pure Elegance

With that Hurricane Heat Wave is now in finals

Respectfully, could you please correct this comment? It is incorrect. Pure Elegance won Grand Champions of the single gender division.

Their comment is mostly correct. There was a scoring mistake that caused them to announce Pure Elegance as the treble division grand champion, but it was actually Heat Wave. The placements should be as follows:

GC: Hurricane Heat Wave
1RU: Fairfield Pure Elegance
2RU: ETC Rouge

That’s not accurate. Pure Elegance won Grand Champions of single gender. A ranking score affected the overall ranking for finals only but that did not change the single gender division results. See above.
GC: Pure Elegance
1RU: Hurricane Heat Wave
2RU: ETC Rouge

Yes this is correct, in ranking Pure Elegance won the division, but Heat Wave was 5th in overall scoring which resulted in Heat Wave making finals. At the time, there was confusion as to what was happening. Heat Wave was not announced as a finalist, Human Error happens and thats okay, congrats to all the competing choirs, and good luck this season!!

Correct. PE won GC and that was not because of an error. The finals rankings is where the error existed. Heat Wave belonged in the finals per the scoring. (If my understanding is correct.)
I completely agree with you on how talented all the groups were! What a fantastic competition! Congrats to all the teams!

Yes, you are correct. Heat Wave and Pure Elegance shows the errors with ordinal consensus ranking. With this scoring format, Pure Elegance beat Heat Wave in their division, but Heat Wave beat Pure Elegance in the overall rankings, putting them in finals. Both groups are amazing! I do think this shows and has opened the discussion as to why ordinal consensus ranking is not the best format out there (just my opinion). Congrats to all who competed.

Thank you for clarifying Mr. Kincaid! Was incredibly confused on how this all worked out and that definitely helped to clear some things up. Both of your groups were FANTASTIC this weekend!

Shout out to Mr. Miller and the entire team at Loveland. A crazy competition for sure. Would love to see if anyone had adding a sixth finalist on their bingo card!

Always an incredibly fair and well run competition, despite having to overcome many factors out of their control.

Can someone confirm why Loveland is performing mid finals instead of last? Just curious, I’m watching the livestream.

I believe it is to allow more time between Hurricane and Fairfield mixed/treble.

Before anything escalates, please remember that these performing groups are all full of KIDS Everyone delivered show stopping performances today. Kudos to Loveland's team for handling an error in scoring how they deemed fit. Human error happens. Loveland has always hosted a top notch contest. These directors have nothing but their students' best interests in mind. Congrats and best of luck to all <3
