I know I'm late but does anyone happen to have scores/ranks, specifically from the mixed division? I'm sure it had to have been close, especially between Center Grove and Brandon.

no reason for surprise, these are all top-tier groups that are competitive at the highest level every single year. Any 4 of these top groups could have placed in any order and I don’t think I would’ve batted an eye. Congrats to all!

Predictions:

GC - Brandon "Brio" (BV)(BC)
1RU - Mitchell "Friend de Coup"
2RU - Omaha Westside "Amazing Technicolor Show Choir"
3RU - Ross "Legacy"/Center Grove "The Soundsystem"
Brio is so good this year. They've only lost once, to Attache, so there is no contest for them getting first here! I love Friend de Coup's style. ATSC is having a great year too, so think they will get third. I've never seen The Soundsystem, although I have heard the name before, but it looks like they've only won one time this whole season to a difficult competitor. I think Ross "Legacy" could take that spot too. They have a good record. But I think the top three in my predictions are AMAZING and will perform very well

Center Grove has been one of the top groups from Indiana for a VERY long time, and has been one of the best music education programs in the country for a VERY long time as well. Like longer than you’ve been alive, they have been one of the best. Maybe even longer than I’ve been alive too (not too certain on that one). Trust me when I say that very few groups would have their record or better with that schedule in Indiana, and those few groups are likely limited to Clinton and the Hollywood schools, maybe Linn Marr.

well that's fine but they even lost to local schools like singers "Franklin central" and ambassadors "Carmel" so if they aren't even good enough at all to beat decent local groups how can they possibly do so good at nationals

Brandon hasn't even beaten decent local groups like Clinton this year! How can they possibly do so well at nationals?

I have only been in show choir for about 3 years now and I whole heartedly know that Franklin CEntral and the Carmel Ambassadors are not "decent". These two groups single handedly dominate Indy show choir, and both brought down Center Grove this year, looks like Carmel and FC did it at Pike MF and Carmel did it at the Franklin Central Competition

yes exactly, CG cannot be the best in the nation if they are brought down by not one but two good groups. If Carmel or FC was there it would be a different story right? They could probably win the whole thing. But from what im hearing here, they are much better than The Soundsystem nowadays. Thats what im saying CG, is not that great anymore, the top groups in Indiana are probably Carmel, FC, Zionsville, Fishers, and North Central, I think Center grove was good around 2017 ish but now they're mediocre again. I haven't watched them recently but that's just from what ive gathered. so it makes sense that they wouldn't win a national comp

Just making this clear here: Astro is not associated with Brio in any way, and does not reflect the attitudes of anyone from Brandon. Brio and its members are very excited for this competition, and have nothing but love and respect for everyone else and their seasons. We wish the other competing groups the best of luck, and hope the feeling is reciprocated.

Not sure the logic follows in the question about "decent local groups," but I'll try my best

Some areas have better "local" groups than others. In the Jackson area, you have Clinton and Brandon. In the Birmingham area, you have Homewood and Oak Mountain. All four of them are amazing this year, and have been for some time (Clinton more than the other three combined).

Indianapolis is one of the best areas for music education, period. Schools like Carmel and Center Grove don't just dominate in show choir, but also marching band, concert band, indoor percussion, and winter guard. You really proved the overall point here mentioning Zionsville, Fishers, and North Central as the "top groups in Indiana." All three of those are local to Indianapolis, in addition to Carmel and Franklin Central.

Now, where you're really losing touch here... Zionsville, Fishers, and North Central have all lost to Center Grove this year. In addition, Center Grove has also taken Best Vocals from Carmel. I encourage watching a group before making the claim that they're "mediocre" or that Carmel and Franklin Central are "much better" than them.

Now, I continue pretending to pack my apartment knowing that I'm moving on Monday. And I definitely will not continue laughing at the same emoji for another hour and a half.

<- golden emoji, to whoever made this work of art

If you think CG is mediocre you are nuts...that being said CG certainly doesn't dominate as Fishers and Carmel has beaten them within the past year. I'd put central Indiana show choirs up against any in the nation.

Calling Center Grove mediocre should be illegal o.o

I would like to mention that not only does the person who choreographs Clinton Attaché also choreographs Center Grove Sound System, but also that Center Grove last year won HOA in Florida against Carmel Ambassadors. Center Grove has been known to be one of the best choir programs in the country for years on end.

Choreography execution also plays in? CG is known for fantastic vocal sound, but minimal dancing. Also - you forgot to mention that Ambassadors beat CG TWICE last season before CG won HOA - then Carmel beats them again twice this year. Anyone can roll a strike once, maybe even twice, but last year and this year it is 4-1 Carmel. CG is not mediocre whatsoever, but they are definitely not the best in the nation - and just happen to be in the most competitive show choir state in the world. Just because Clinton and CG is both choreographed by April doesn't give them more credibility.

I was trying to play neutral as I am an alumni from CG sound system, it wasn’t a knock on Carmel it was more a knock on the person saying CG is mediocre and that Indiana show choir is decent. I would also argue that sound systems choreo is far from minimal as they have won choreo caption awards many times. Show choir is subjective, and is truly based upon what a judge finds appealing. I also didn’t say that we are the best, but that we are one of the best. And my point of April choreographing both groups is that she is known to implement very visually appealing choreography for each group she choreographs

Define minimal dancing(perhaps you’re hyperbolizing), because my understanding of CG over the years is that they’ve had some pretty Athletic shows. The show choir takes are missing today people…

I’ve seen Center Grove’s show from this year. There are points of “minimal dancing” in moments where… super crazy athletic choreography would be inappropriate. Those moments are at the beginning of the show, so if someone hasn’t seen the whole show, then they would’ve missed the very athletic choreography that is present in the rest of the show.
