Very quick thoughts on the final performances and seeing these shows for the first time:
ATSC - The harmonizing during Hello... goosebumps. I wish I could replay that over and over. I also loved the girl's silver union jack dresses in the second half. Your British Invasion show is a lot of fun. Well deserved GC.
GCS - I was most struck by your ballad. Really gorgeous song. I'm enjoying this new era of GCS and I'm a big fan of Lexi and Braxton's artistry with how they capture the essence of the songs in the movement. Look forward to seeing more from this group!
Celebration Co - Your show really embodies the spirit of the 2022 show choir season. I also thought your girl's number was especially fierce. Loved the set design and overall music theme. Nice job!
Power Company - Sort of a bold choice to go with a theme about the emotions and experiences of these past couple years. I loved the familiar message and the resounding hope and support I got out of it. The power and force y'all exude on stage is nothing short of captivating. Congrats on 1RU!
Hilltoppers - To be completely honest, I was a bit confused at your show, but also totally intrigued. I'm not familiar with the Faust story that your show was based on but I get that it was along the lines of 'making a deal with the devil.' In general, this was kind of.. new for Hilltoppers? I'm not sure I've seen y'all dive into a story show before like this. I enjoyed seeing something new though and I know I'll be watching again later in the season to see how the show has evolved.
Momentum - The opener felt a tad stiff which isn't really out of the ordinary for a first time out. I thought your show really picked up steam in the second half. Very strong ballad, great soloists, and the all of the hyped energy you want to see in a closer. Solid performance.
It's so amazing to see all the amazing groups today. But I want to give my love and props to Waconia especially, their show swept me away both in prelims and finals and I am so glad I came today to watch Viterbos comp! Good luck to all in finals for placements and all but just know you all did so amazing
After doing some extend research, which lead me to Waconia’s Facebook, the competition will not have a live stream. So it seems if you want to catch some groups via stream keep your eyes out for some Facebook Lives by people associated with groups.
