Findlay should have won. I saw all of these groups and this is not right. Findlay should have won. They are literally KNOWN for their vocals and stunning choreography . This was for sure decided based off which school has a bigger name and that is just not right.

I don't know... I wasn't there, but look at those judges. This isn't their first rodeo. They have been around great show choir for decades. I'm willing to bet that it was based off more than just the school name.

I honestly agreed with the results. Findlay and Carmel both finished very strong but they started out weak and lacked energy in my opinion. Carmel Accents and Fairfield Choraliers were consistent throughout the whole show and really brought it.

Not saying that your opinion is wrong, but by saying that Findlay is known for choreography and vocals, aren’t you... going off of their name?

Unfortunately being known for vocals and choreo does not mean they performed the best on any given week. I would also question the size of the school "name" . If Findlay is KNOWN for these things, then they may have the bigger name...

And also... "stunning" choreography is subjective. All groups did a wonderful job Saturday, and I'm sure the judges weren't expecting the outcome before the contest had begun. Congrats, FF

To go off of the whole “Name” concept you have another example in the fact that Loveland only lost best choreography once last year, and the fact that a Single-Gender group beat some of the biggest names in the nation. Also, not to discredit your opinion but like previously stated the judges opinions are held to a much higher regard considering they are paid professionals and have been for just as long as you have been in show choir if not long.

every group did an amazing job & absolutely deserved the opportunity to compete in finals. that being said, the competition was extremely stacked. even if you disagree with the results (which happens all the time, you’re not wrong for disagreeing), the judges’ decisions should be respected, especially with such an experienced panel. its also worth mentioning that findlay did win against fairfield this season with another great panel

Interesting how you say that yet you predicted Findlay to get 4th at their next competition...

Comps aren’t judged like that. There is not a single comp that would put a group in first based on their name. For instance, look at Waubonsie they won Wheaton for many years in a row, then they didn’t make finals. These judges have training and have been seeing these things for years. Some of those judges direct some of the top groups in the country, so for you to say that they decided based on their name is kind of insulting to them and putting down their expertise. I don’t think you would be very happy if you devoted your life to this world of show choir and someone put you down like that. Show some respect

Technically, last year at Wheaton, Waubonsie didn’t make finals due to a single judge, but I hate to bring up a sore subject...
I agree though. No competition would deliberately rank an individual school.

don't forget to always spread positivity! you never know how hard a group works compared to another and how the judges perceived a show i got the wonderful opportunity to see all of the groups perform and it was a very close call for sure! carmel accents really shocked me with their vocals and fairfield had an incredible set! everyone deserved to win!

Finals Rankings-
Fairfield: 1,1,1,1,1
Carmel Girls: 2,2,2,2,4
Carmel: 3,3,3,4,6
Findlay: 2,3,4,5,5
Loveland: 3,4,5,5,5
Fairfield Girls: 4,6,6,6,6
Also keep in mind that one of the judges on the Olentangy Panel served on the panel at Medina where Fairfield and Findlay had competed against each other last weekend. He had Findlay in first over Fairfield at Medina. All proving that a different week, with a different mix of groups, a different panel, and hard work in between competitions serves different outcomes.

It’s amazing to see that the judges almost unanimously had Accents in second! Just goes to show what girls groups are really capable of!

The "Ambassadors" and the "Accents" had some of the nicest choir members I've met in a long while! It's truly a blessing to see such talented people with such great character!
