I love the fact that "anything can happen" It makes show choir very exciting, but I can't seem to find any record of Attache not coming in first at HOMEwood. (As a matter of fact, according to this website the only time another group has even taken a caption from them at HOMEwood is when Wheaton came down here.) As far as choreography goes, they have the most difficult in the South and they maintain an amazing balanced sound. I find it hard to believe that it will be anything short of a humbling experience for some of the amazing show choirs that have made a ton of progress over the years and want to see how they shape against the southern empire that is Attache. (Im so dramatic)

I just did some more digging and it seems that dating back all the way to 1993 (as far as I could find) Clinton has won GC at HOMEwood(That's 19 Grand Championship Trophies that I can find one record. Although i'm sure this competition has been going on longer, in the event that Attache wins this year, this will be their 20th electronically recorded GC. (I could be so wrong but that's all I could find )

Basically the only competition that Clinton was threatened in was South Central 2011 when Wheaton came (that was the year that they had Renegade as the opener if anyone else remembers). Think Clinton ended up winning by 3? points in terms of overall point total and was ahead by 1 point after prelims. Don't think any southern group has really come close during that period since 2011 (Albertville led them once after Prelims in either 2008 or 2009). Homewood finished 24 points behind Clinton at Enterprise 2012, and there may be other examples, but nobody has really come within real striking distance that I can think of (Clinton had a score of 597/600 there). Unless there is a truly transcendent show, which seems unlikely since none of the competitors are unbeaten this year, I would bet the house on Clinton at any southern competition.

I believe Homewood was close again last year at Petal. The vocal caption from what I hear was decided by less than 5 points.

If you look further back, Petal actually took a caption from them at Sullivan(?), in the late 90s/early 2000s.

The last time Clinton didn’t win at South Central was 2006 because that was the last time they didn’t come to South Central... They use to come to Homewood every other year rather than every year.... Trivia: Can any of y’all guess who did win? Lol

Probably Petal, right? Was a period of really strong groups from Mississippi with Clinton, Petal, South Jones, Pascagoula, and Tupelo if I remember correctly.

I think South Jones won at Homewood in 2006, but I’m not positive. It was a long time ago!

I wouldn't be surprised by that either. 2006 South Central classic results are missing here, so only have the comments. If South Jones won a South Central classic, that would be the year.

We had a major server problem in 2006, which is why so many records are missing. If anyone has full records from any competition that year (or any year, really), we would greatly appreciate them.

I’m sure I’ve got some finals DVDs in storage somewhere, which would include the awards presentations. I’ll see about digging them out and updating it all.

They were not stated during Preliminary awards. They just recognized participants, the solo finalists, and group finalists
