An E-Mail was just sent out regarding placements. The results were printed and read correctly at final awards, but Papillion did indeed score higher on points than Mundelein. The results were tabulated with consensus rankings, a great discussion about which can be found on this year's Monona Grove forum. The rankings were as follows
Papillion- 3, 4,5,5, 5, 5
Mundelein- 3, 4, 4, 5, 5, 6
Using "Pure Rank" totals, this adds up to 27 a piece for each group. Now using the following scale for each rank
6=1 point
5=3 points
4=6 points
3=10 points
2=15 points
1=21 points
Now, that makes Papillion's total 28 and Mundelein's 29, therefore making the score sheet make sense with what was read.
Thank you Angela for explaining that so eloquently. Indeed, the results that were read last night are correct using the consensus ranking. We believe that this is the most fair system so that one judge's score isn't weighted more than another. The raw point values were only a determining factor in the event of a tie. Again, the results are:

Every choir yesterday was fantastic and I loved watching each groups pour their hearts out. Especially as it was so many seniors' last performances (including mine), there was a lot of great and fantastic things to see at this competition
Wow!! Congrats to Sioux City East! I knew you all would be serious contenders this year after I saw you guys at Waukee. Congrats on the sweep in a field of tough competition.
