This is honestly just as competitive as Jackson Academy's competition as far as the amount of very strong groups fighting for 5 finals spots. With Grenada sweeping at Tupelo last night, there's a strong chance they could place over Brandon here. Brandon has swept this comp 3 years in a row though. They're going to be tough to beat.
Finals predictions (that I'm sure will change before this comp):
GC- Clinton "Attaché" (sweep)
1st ru- Brandon "Brio"
2nd ru- Grenada "Visions"
3rd ru- Jackson Prep "Reveillon"
4th ru- West Jones "Imagination"
I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Enterprise, Biloxi, or Brandon "Bellas" in finals either (or potentially even a smaller group like PRC, South Jones, or Sumrall). We'll see how several of these groups do this coming weekend at Jackson Prep, South Jones, and Tallassee.
Mississippi folks, what exactly is this new “super large mixed” category? Clinton isn’t exactly what I would think of as a “super large” group since they typically put low to mid 40s on stage (compared to Homewood, Brandon, Oak Mountain, and Auburn who typically have close to 60 on stage).
Super Large is 51+ Performers
I bet Clinton is opting up to be in this division. Last time I checked, they have 43. It’s my understanding that you may opt up, but not down.
This makes sense to me. Sometimes in states that have divisions by enrollment, groups will opt up to a larger enrollment division, but they cannot opt down.
