But there wasn't finals right? This is like saying if Jr. High groups were eligible for an imaginary finals and they scored higher than Hilltoppers they would be in 1st place. Sometimes the divisions are judged differently...hence why the separate divisions are created in the first place. For people not looking closely at the awards given, this comment could create weird assumptions.

I believe that he is saying that those would be the top 7 placements based on daytime scores if all of the divisions were combined. To clarify, there was not a finals I cannot personally confirm that those are correct placements though.

Proving my original point...different divisions and tiers are scored differently.

...I don’t know if it proves your point? In my experience the high school divisions have all been judged by the same rubric, hence why Brand excluded middle school groups that were scored differently. I appreciate the spirit of Brand’s post as someone who has been hurting for finals a little bit this year.

Premiere did not compete in the tier 2 division - they were in a different prep division than the other two prep groups, by themselves.

Iowa do be weird like that sometimes. Two prep divisions? I mean I’ve heard of two middle school divisions but can’t recall many instances of two separate prep divisions.

It looks like it's starting to become a thing? I'm not sure. Last week Pella also had separate prep division for the larger schools (4A) compared to everyone else. Our system on SCC does not currently have tiers built into the prep division framework (because we've never needed them), so that's why it looks the way it does right now. Hopefully we don't need them. But if the trend continues, we can re-evaluate.
