Neither Heelan Magnifique nor Harlan have ever made finals before in their existence. Until tonight. Dreams have been met here in Hinton. Waiting to get back into the gym for finals, Heelan Magnifique walked by on their way to warmup. They were ecstatic, smiling, and high fiving/hugging family, friends, and strangers. It was electric. And wonderful to see. This is what it's about. I love it.

You're probably pretty close to actual results here. I would put Heelan at GC and mix the captions up a bit but other than that, we agree. Westwood/Heelan/LeMars should be top 3. Then it should be Sioux Center/Sheldon.
That 5RU spot is kind of a mystery, but it would make sense that Harlan grabs it. Which would be the first time in program history that Harlan has qualified for a finals. Could be a very special day for them.
I'll be heading down to Hinton later. Bittersweet to see my niece compete for the final time.
This is the most underwhelming lineup I've seen at Hinton, and I've been at this competition every year since it began. This is a small school competition, so it will never draw major names, but usually there is more 2A/3A depth than this with some 4A mixed in.
That being said, it should be a nice battle for the top 5 spots. Based on previous competitions, I don't expect there to be much separation between Heelan, Westwood, and LeMars. And Sioux Center/Sheldon probably won't be too terribly far behind and could definitely sneak in there as well. Hinton's small and uniquely-shaped gym tends to eliminate separations in scoring categories that usually would lead to big point differences in typical venues. Should be a fun one!
This is my niece's final show choir competition of her high school career. It's going to be a bittersweet day! So if you are one of the maybe two other people on SCC going to this competition, find me and say hey. Not sure how much show choir I'll be getting to after this year since I will no longer have family in the group!
