What a day! Thanks to everyone for holding on through the weather...we unfortunately had several schools, especially those further south, that had to leave after their performances to try to beat the snow and ice. I had the pleasure of watching every single group, and thoroughly enjoyed all of them. There were some GREAT performances...I loved Minstrel Magic's show, BD Premiers' sound was incredible, and in general, it was just a wonderful day of show choir. Vocal scores were some of the highest I've seen on an ISSMA scoresheet, at least in recent memory.
And thanks to everyone for rolling with some of the punches - we got behind during the lunch and dinner breaks, and as mentioned before Carroll switched with Ben Davis so Ben Davis could have an earlier slot to get home (THANK YOU SO MUCH!) and there were some minor scheduling snafus due to the late addition of several groups. I know there were a few different schedules for both the main competition and the solo competition floating around that had different amendments, and I apologize for any confusion arising from that. But I think, and I hope everyone agrees, that despite the minor setbacks, it was a joy to be there and enjoy the show choir!
Solo comp GC - Hannah Shafer - Columbia City
People's Choice - Carroll Select Sound
Outstanding Male Soloist - Wesley Husten(sp?) from Luers
Outstanding Female Soloist - Hannah Shafer from Columbia City
Best Band - South Dearborn
Best Stage Crew - Carroll mixed
Ben Davis also brought their intermediate women's group, Preview. They went in what is listed as the Sound's slot, at 11.30. Sounds will actually be scheduled at 1, immediately after Bishop Luers Knight Stars. Everything else will proceed delayed half an hour.
Thanks for the update. I added Ben Davis "Preview" and adjusted every performance time back a half hour.

Haha we're glad to have Norwell, the more the merrier!
I will post a heads-up if anyone checks this before the competition tomorrow. We're super excited to have everyone, but we're going to have a humungous crowd. After lunch (before, there's some sort of practice going on) we will be setting up a live feed of the competition in the gymnasium, because we anticipate that especially towards the end of the night when some of the big, local mixed groups perform, we will be beyond capacity in the auditorium. In the future, if we have this kind of interest, we're going to look at bringing back a gymnasium performance venue (haven't had one since 2000 or so), but we didn't plan for it this year. I know it isn't ideal, but so far it looks like this is the best option we have.
Tickets are $15 for the day, but 10 years old and under will get in free.
Knight Moves should be small, since they almost always go small, but if that changes I'll post back.
And without further ado, I have middle school results!
4th Runner Up: East Side Cutting Edge
3rd Runner Up: Norwell Knight Stars
2nd Runner Up: Miami Sound Machine
Best Choreography: Indian Springs City Stars
Best Vocals: Woodside Class Act
1st Runner Up: Woodside Class Act
Grand Champion: Indian Springs City Stars
Thanks again, Darren (and others!), for clarifying information. Knight Edition (Day One) has been posted and the Saturday schedule is updated up above. Even though the time was provided for Norwell "Knight Moves," I guessed in terms of their division. Whenever there are large/small divisions, "Knight Moves" almost always competes in the smaller one. Let me know if I need to change it.
I'm also pretty sure that this year Norwell has withdrawn from more competitions than they have competed at.. ok Norwell you can stop that now.
As of this afternoon, Norwell "Knight Moves" & "Knight Stars" will be attending East Noble's Invitational tomorrow. All we know so far is that Norwell "Knight Stars" perform at 8:30a. Thank you.
Predictions:
GC- Northrop (BV, BB)
1RU- Carroll (BC)
2RU- Bishop Luers
3RU- Anderson
4RU- Ben Davis
5RU- Columbia City
This going to be a good one! I feel like this is only one scenario of what could happen though. Carroll and Luers are both certainly capable of taking the GC here.

And finally small/large designations. Single-gender is all one division. We will have 1st, 2nd, 3rd for small mixed choirs. These choirs will be Crestview, Woodlan, New Pal, New Prairie, Garrett, Bellmont, South Dearborn, and Columbia City. In other words, every mixed choir on the schedule in order beginning with Crestview until Columbia City. After that, all mixed choirs will be up for top 5 mixed, overall. There isn't a separate large school division, per se.
