I have heard from other gigs at the Paramount that it is EXPENSIVE to get into that place. That may be why there's only varsity, I have no idea. I went to Fab Five every year from 1995 until 2006, and I have so many AMAZING show choir memories from those Fab 5.
1998 and 2001 Momentum Riverdance. 2001 Linn-Mar Will Rogers Follies show- my mom will remember that show forever. Kennedy 2001 Guillotine. 97 Jefferson Dancin' Fool. 98 Jefferson Le roi David. 2000 Momentum Bohemian Rhapsody. 2000 WSD entire show (i love that year so much). Prairie the year they had black lights and gloves (I want to say 99). Jefferson's opener from 99. Momentum's closer in 96. I mean I could just go on and on with the amazing songs and shows I've seen over the years. All the Allen Keopke finale pieces in the 90s! What special memories those are now.
I loved watching everyone last year, and with Momentum's time slot I'll get to see everyone this year! So excited, can't wait! See you there!
I figured I wouldn't start a topic for this this year because of the odd date, being on a Tuesday and all but too late now! I feel like it'll be another great show this year with all the groups I've seen so far! Cedar Rapids has 6 great, nationally acclaimed groups from 6 great schools! (it's basically a show choir heaven ) It's a shame though that this year they removed the prep show and have narrowed it to only the varsity show.
Fab Five is a non-competitive, annual fundraising event coming up soon in the Cedar Rapids area. Despite it not being a competition, I added the event page above and here is an excerpt from the website outlining the Fab Five event:
The Cedar Rapids area Public High Schools are proud to present the 20th annual FAB Five Show Choir Extravaganza. This event has a long history in Cedar Rapids and has become one of the premier entertainment events in the area.
This event is a major fundraiser for the participating schools’ vocal music programs. The varsity show choirs at Jefferson, Kennedy, Linn-Mar, Prairie and Washington High Schools will each be performing their shows. All proceeds will be divided equally between the schools.
