I'm not sure what perennial powers have to do with it. It just seems reasonable to conclude given that there are three Ohio competition in the same day (Beavercreek, Piqua, & Portsmouth) that it clearly played into the fact that Piqua is only hosting 9 choirs at their invitational compared to 12 at Portsmouth and 18 at Beavercreek.

Just for a frame of reference, six choirs that competed at Piqua in 2012 didn't return this year and instead chose those other competitions: four of which are competing at Beavercreek instead (Riverdale, Solon, Vermillion, and Wapak) and the other two are competing at Portsmouth (Hurricane and Medina).

So, yeah, I think Beavercreek pushing their competition back a week and 3 competitions in the same day both played a part to that drop off.

Piqua is just a competition known for attracting bigger names in the SC world. That was all I was saying. I was speaking from that aspect.

I don't think it was Beavercreek that caused the dropoff. There are only two perennial powers at Beavercreek this year (Marysville & Solon). Whatever it was, its sad to see. Piqua is such a great and well-run competition, to only have 9 competing schools is shocking!

Wow, is that the complete performance schedule? If so it's pretty obvious that Beavercreek pushing their competition back a week (compared to last year) really hurt this competition which has historically drawn huge names. Last year there were 6 finalists, considering there are only 9 total competing choirs this year, are there even going to be Finals?

I don't see a thread on here for this competition... I may be wrong..

It's scheduled for the 19th of January.

Anyone know who will be there?
