I know that the subject is over, but we've been on Spring Break and I feel I need to respond to two statements. First, to the student who is not "associated" - the March 17th comment- choreo is spelled with an "h". (It's a teacher thing.) To others who felt that Nitro should have placed higher. I saw them at Teays Valley, and I agree that Nitro was not on their "A Game" at WVMEA finals. They had lots of intonation problems in their vocals, and individual choreography mistakes all through their show. They didn't command the stage like they did at Teays. That being said, the judges have to judge what is presented to them that day, NOT what they want to see/hear, or based on past performances from this or any other season. Also, the judges are on platforms, so they see and hear the shows from a different perspective than the audience. If Nitro didn't deserve to place higher, then so be it. Martinsburg was incredible! Vocals and Choreography were clean. Poca came to win. I think the host choir should be pumped up to do their best. That's part of their job as being host choir. So, maybe the critisim of the host choirs placing higher than they should is relavent. Maybe the host choir is so honored to host that they mentally are focused and ready to take another step forward in their performance, so they perform to another level. Just some thoughts. Anyway, everyone have a great end of the year!! Good luck in the rest of your performances!!!!!

does anyone remember what the name of Martinsburg's ballad? I'm sure it's on youtube being done by another Mike Weaver group, I just can't remember how the thing went.

Is there really a list of rules for showchoir.com(alias, etc.), I have always wondered? If so where is it located?

And I really am from St. Clairsville, no alias.

I think Saturday was a great competition and I must say that some of the usually "ok" choirs have stepped up their game big time and Saturday I saw some really wonderful talent. Although, I must say that I was in Ahh of the results. I totally thought that Martinsburg and Nitro would have been higher and Poca would not have been as high. Although, I have seen Poca many times this season and out of all of the performances I have seen..Saturday was their best. BUT you also had choirs who were at the "high level" sometime before Saturday. This is only what I think and like I said I saw some great talent Saturday. As for the middle school competition..I think 100% that Dunbar Singers should have placed one more higher than they did. With H.M. choir being in their first year (I think) they are more than on the right path, but Dunbar did a steller performance and they should have walked away with the Grand Champ. Again, great job and congrats to ALL choirs!!

once agian... everyone is entitled to their own opinion... so are the judges... look at the score sheets... if one judge saw a bad show... every judge saw a bad show... here's an idea... LISTEN TO YOUR MOTHERS!!!

i quote a mother of a child from one of the placing schools...

"nitro made a lot of mistakes... wardrobe problems... people falling... then cabell midland's breaking legs {i hope you are doing well!!!}... it was just a bad day for everyone."

martinsburg came out of no where... and there should have not been any type of predictions made 1. because they are always wrong... 2. because it was anyone's game... hurricane's had a bad season... poca's had a bad season... martinsburg had improved dramatically since music fest... poca beat nitro... then nitro beat them twice... it was honestly anyone's game... or competition for those who wish to be politically correct...

s.a. has had great programs in the past... i'm sorry but everyone has an off year... and this just seems to be it... didn't martinsburg have more grand championships over ANYONE at states this season??? yeah... i went there!!!

in closing... hurrican kicked you know what... and deserved everything they received... for those who say it's rigged... get over it... if it were... poca would have taken it all...

once again... congrats to those who placed, all the best performers, winning soloists, and those who gave it 110%...

YOU ARE ALL WINNERS IN MY EYES!!!

Wow, that was ridiculous. First of all, It's not about how many Grand Championships you've won. Martinsburg competes at far less vigorous competitions than most of the groups do. You say Hurricane has had a bad season. 2 GC's, 2 1RU's, a 2RU, and a 3RU are definitely not qualifying of a "bad season." Poca has also definitely not had a bad year. This is actually one of Poca's strongest years (atleast in the past couple of years.) Next, predictions are fun. It's always interesting to see what everybody has to say before going into a competition. They aren't meant to be hurtful or anything else, they are strictly just a fun thing. Finally, Martinsburg did not really come out of nowhere, they have consistently placed in the top 3 at WVMEA.

edited for grammar :>

I think that Martinsburg will actually be taking the place of Poca for the Honor Performance because of the stage or something. I think so, anyway.

It doesn't matter what you all think because it is over with and everything is final. Poca did ammmmmmazzzzzing on saturday and they def deserved 1st runner up. They had a very powerful vocal sound and they had great dynamics not to mention they executed there choreography very well. Every move was locked in and everyone was together. It was a much deserved win, and I lovee there show. CONGRATULATIONS POCA! Don't let them ruin this for you. It was much well deserved. Cannot wait to see you all at the honor performance at all-state, and if I am correct you will be performing at arts-alive also. And just because they hosted doesn't mean anything. All of the judges where qualified and they all knew what they where talking about. CONGRATS AGAIN POCA VISUAL VOLUME! Can't wait till all-state!

Let's talk about something else.....Does anyone know what the final point spreads were? Poca is hosting again next year I'm guessing?

I had heard that Hurricane won by 20? But I'm not sure on that.

And yes, Poca will be hosting it again as long as they still want it.
