The one thing that I don't like about this scoring method is there are only 2 judges that score each category. Why do they only judge vocals or visuals. That is basically like having only 2 judges score a competition. There is going to be a HUGE difference in what people think. There was no real consensus on anything except Fairfield had the best choreography. When there are only 2 people judging vocals and two people judging choreography, you are not going to get the most objective, fair scoring.
I definetly made the best decision in coming to FC for finals.
If i were judging this is what i would have done....
GC: Fairfield
1st RU: Ben Davis
2nd RU: HN
3rd RU: DeKalb
4th RU: Anderson Highland
5th RU: Homewood.
and here is why
Fairfield- very clean and the energy is great. I think your closer really dies and brings your show down, but the first half of your show was BY FAR the best i saw all day. I loved how you guys showed variety in your show, but the closer didnt cut it for me. Also, just a side note.... your girls were the best girls of the night as well. Opener vocals and choreo was so clean and mind blowing. GREAT JOB!!! Deserved Grand Champion in my opinion.
Ben Davis- i have seen you guys at Warren Central, your own comp and now here. You guys have definetly grown alot!! Personally, i think you have been cheated and i really dont understand how you guys got 5th place. 7 pts behind 1st isnt bad at all. Your opener shows off your vocals. The two ballad soloists were THE BEST of finals in my opinion. I loved the contrast of the voices. Finally, the closer really ended your show with a bang. I do think the energy in the choir dies down bigtime untill the very end when the guy goes crazy (if any of you have seen it, you know what im talking about)
Huntington North- you guys deserved Best Vocals. No questions asked. The matureness and dynamics of your show are great. Only complaint, i would like to see more variety in your show. You guys are a perfect example of what a show choir needs to do. Dance well, but sing even better.
DeKalb- like everyone else has said, your choreography was VERY CLEAN!!! Best choreography of the night. Your choreography is steps beyond your competition, but i think there are times in your show where you guys are behind vocally as well.
Anderson Highland- ballad definelty got you guys best vocals. You guys sing and dance well (above average), but i dont think it was better than your competiton.
Homewood- i really loved the difference in style between the Midwest and Southern show choirs. Great show overall. Lots of energy.
Overall, all choirs in finals deserved to be there and all choirs really blew me away.

well i would agree with you totally if the other judge hadnt put dekalb as second in visuals, with the point spread still pretty close. maybe they had something going on last saturday? also, i noticed on other post that dekalb is VERY clean this year but doesnt have that rememberable of a show, not a bad thing, but not that extra spice? ive seen dekalb personally and they were very dekalb when i saw them, clean and okay vocally, but not like what dekalb usualy has, that extra spice that makes their show exciting. i personally wouldve put ben davis a little higher, but im not a judge. this is what i thought of last saturday..
fairfield - LOVED IT. your show is very fun to watch, like always! you guys did great dancing in your show and i can easliy see how you got first in visuals! congrats on your deserved win!
highland - you guys rocked! your show was also fun to watch. i loved your ballad, very good vocals! i can easily see how you got best vocals, although i couldve also seen huntington north up there vocally too. i also loved the guys number, you guys can dance!
huntington north - i loved your vocals! you guys can sing! i did see a little lacking dancing wise compared to last year, but it was still good nonetheless. you guys were kickin it!
dekalb - your show was SO clean! also very good dancing wise, i thought the girls number was cute and your closer rocked!
ben davis - amazing! i loved your soloist and your closer! very fun!
homewood - i didnt see you guys, but im sure it was good for you to make finals!
dekalb last in visuals from brett c.? i doubt it. thats has to be some politcal crap going on there, this is why i hate show choir. and fairfield getting 5th in vocals from paul g.
its just dissappointing to see that one judge has a group in second and another has one in last or second to last..

I gotta say that crete loves BEN DAVIS- you guys were so nice and your performance was amazing. thank you guys for all your encouragement.I think crete is planning an invitational next year and we definately want to see you guys there!!
